Seems like a wasted morning

I set out for Home Depot with a list, but was disappointed to find that they have jumbled some of the shelves around, and I couldn't find anything on my list.  The main departments, paint, electric, plumbing, etc., were still in the same place, but little odds and ends were nowhere to be found.  I left HD to try Lowes.  I've never shopped at Lowes enough to become really familiar with the layout of the store, but again I couldn't find a thing I was looking for.

I drove over to Old Fair Oaks Village near where I had an apartment several years ago.  The Village had an honest-to-goodness old time hardware store, which I discovered has closed and been replaced by a BBQ equipment & supplies store.  I just came on home to do some online searching or maybe get out the yellow pages.

I couldn't get enough to eat for lunch today - I don't know where this appetite is coming from or how long it will last, but I've been ravenous.  It would be great if I could learn to eat my main meal at noon because that seems to be when I'm the hungriest.  But other than Sunday dinner when I was a child, and summers on my grandparents farm, I've associated "dinner" with "supper" which is an evening meal.  I'm no doubt too old to change now.

Other than driving around in vain this morning, I feel absolutely great today!

I will post pictures of my new tent when I eventually set it up.  Since my floors are all pergo, I don't want to deal with possibly scratching them with tent poles, and I don't have a yard - just gravel with a lot of weeds in it!

  1. I have found that lowes is way more customer oriented than Home Depot. The lowes I go to always has one r two people waiting at the door that will take you right to what you want.If their not there or busy with another customer the service desk will call someone who will take yo where you want to go.,My Son Andy's girlfriend worked for them and she liked it there.

  3. I too have always been able to find people in Lowe's who will tell me where what I want is located and often take me to it. I thought it was Home Debto.

Glad you are feeling better. Mid day dinner is just an attitude. When I'm hungry, which like you is mid day, I eat and then I'm not really hungry at "supper" time.

  4. I thought supper was a southern thang... always heard them defined as dinner being the largest meal of the day and supper was a light meal in the evening time....

  5. Yes I find people can be easier to find or have them called to help. And if they don't know they will find someone who is familiar with that dept. In Home Depot they run the other way.

Well eat if your hungry and enjoy all you can. Dinner, supper its all the same to me I can never figure out which it is so Lunch is mid day meal for me. LOL

  6. I have found that I also can not find most of the stuff I go to Home Depot to get. Now when I go I go to the department that I need something from and find one of those old Farts that work there part time, you know the one that has done everything. You ask him about the part and he will take you right to it. If you ask he will explain how to install it even.

  7. If you can find what you need online, but don't want to order it that way to have it delivered to your house, you can then at least have an idea of what you are looking for, and can ask directly when you get to the store. The "information" clerk can usually look on the store's computer to see if/where they have it in stock.

If you find it on a certain website, say for Home Depot or Lowe's, you can order it to be sent to your local store for pickup. When you get there, open the package to see if it is exactly what you want. If not, you are already in a good position to return it! ;->

Hint: When visiting stores in person, always carry a tape measure!

For some items, I find that ACE Hardware, and their excellent customer service, is the answer to my prayers! It is possible to buy onesies and twosies of small items without having to purchase an "economy pack" of fifty or one hundred items.

    Virtual hugs,
