This is Gypsy's daughter, Jeannie. I am writing this post, as I sit next to her in her hospital bed. I am happy to report that she is recovering well after a very rough week following her gall bladder surgery. She was terribly sick and in pain, but started feeling much better last night. They started giving her nutrients through a PIC line (she hadn't been able to eat anything since 12/21), and they performed the ERCP that was originally scheduled for January 14th. Fortunately, they were able to remove all stones and the temporary stent from the bile duct. Also, they confirmed that there were no leaks from where the gall bladder had been, so that was good news. Today she ate a little bit of food and is feeling pretty good (so good that we are about to take a walk around the hospital halls). She may be released as early as tomorrow (a great way to start the New Year)! She'll be staying with me for as long as I can convince her to (so far she's agreed to at least one night). :) I've been reading her some of the posts as they've come in, and she plans to catch up on the rest of them over the next couple days. She really appreciates everyone's concern and kind words! She is looking forward to getting back to her normal routine, so you can expect to hear from her soon! Wishing all of you a happy and healthy New Year!!

Jeannie,Thank you for the update. She has been in our prayers and it is such good news to hear she is starting to get better. Please tell her to take it easy now so she won't have any more set backs.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this turned into such a horrible experience. Glad to hear things are looking better today and hope and pray improvement continues and a good pace. It's my guess, judging by the length of time my daughter took to recover That full recovery could take 12 months so don't try to do too much too soon. My daughter was only 20 too and she felt unwell for months gradually improving all the time.
ReplyDeleteI think we sometimes take laproscopic surgery too lightly. You have still had major surgery so treat yourself with love and care.
I guess you'll see New Year in from your hospital bed. We saw the New Year in from bed too. John was sound asleep until the fireworks woke him up :)
Blessings
Happy New Year. I hope 2014 brings you a lot of healing, so that you can go out on the hikes and adventures that you have planned.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jeannie for letting us know the good news. I think Gypsy is. psychic. Everyone kept saying this would ne a piece of cake but she was never so sure and got just an outrageous run around from the medical people. They should be ashamed. I am so glad she is on the mend. Allow yourself to be taken care of Gypsy - you hear?? :-))
ReplyDeleteJeannie Thank you so much for letting us know how your Mom is doing. Donna & I were really worried, I have to talk her into to stopping at our place on her next trip east, she loves our lab Rigg's.Hope she is back to normal soon. Sam & Donna....
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know Jeannie. I had a moment of fright when I saw that it was from you. That usually means bad news. So glad it's good news and that she's on the mend.Hope she stays with you long enough to really get better. She will probably be too weak to be by herself and feed herself properly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful news. I am excited for her to get back to blogging about her "new" life after surgery. Get well Gypsy, the world needs you.
ReplyDeleteGreat news, we were getting worried out here in blog land!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannie for updating us. Lots of positive thoughts have been going your mother's way. I sure hope things continue to improve.
ReplyDeleteGypsy.you are such an inspiration to me.I am a 68 year old with a few health issues and when you post your plans and adventures I get inspired to get out and go!Hope you can be out living the good life soon. You have a fan in Dublin Tx.2014 is going to be our year to celebrate life...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jeannie for the update. Gypsy is such a great friend and we have all been worried about her. Good news to start 2014. The only thing that worries me is that she will over do it. She can be a bit stubborn (in case you didn't know that). LOL I'm sorry this turned into such a nightmare for you but I'm glad they did the ERCP and you don't have to go back for that. Take it easy and let yourself recover. We love you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us know. I, for one, was really worried about her. Not hearing from a daily blogger always worries us. So glad to hear that she is getting along so fine and will be out of the hospital soon. I know you will take good care of her, if she lets you (grin). Tell her to get better fast because we all love and miss her.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear she got thru this and will soon be back on her feet. great way to start the year.
ReplyDeleteThank Jeannie for the update. Gypsy-- feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update on your Mom, I have been worried about her so very glad to hear she is doing so much better. Happy New Year to you and to her.

ReplyDeleteThank you for updating us. I had been checking for her post and I am relieved that she is recuperating . Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us know! At least she got the bonus of getting it all over with at one time! No more dark cloud of dread hanging over her. Now all she has to do when she's better is make camping plans. Happy New New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, Jeannie, to keep us updated - thank you. Gypsy, I'm so glad it's over and that you are starting to feel better. Be a good girl and let your daughter take care of you until you can really care for yourself. It's hard for us independent women to accept that sometimes, but your recuperation will be easier if you have someone right there to do the "heavy lifting."
ReplyDeleteTo you and your wonderful family, Gypsy, Happy New Year and I hope you all have a really good, happy and healthy 2014. :)
We are so glad to hear she is finally feeling better. We are looking forward to her return to blog world:)

Gypsy, Good news that your surgery was a success. Please take care of yourself (by letting Jeannie help you as much as possible) until you feel much better.

When I saw someone opening her blog with "This is Gypsy's daughter", I though "Oh no, please let it not be what I think it is". Thankfully it wasn't. I got a call last week and the opening words were "Nancy, this is your cousin Linda's daughter. She passed away last week".
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to hear your mother is on the road to ......well being on the road. :-)
Thank you for letting us know. I was just a tiny bit worried.
Appreciate the update. We were getting worried when we hadn't seen anything posted for a couple days. Gypsy's a feisty Gal & I'm sure she will be taking the bull by the horns just as soon as she can. All the best Gypsy & a speedy recovery:))
