The best of intentions . . .

. . . fall by the wayside sometimes. There are so many things I need to do but feel like I'm coming down with something. I have the beginnings of a sore throat, so I didn't do much today except take it easy. I tried to run a couple of errands but both businesses are closed on Mondays, so I came back to the Park. Somewhere in my travels I lost the water pressure regulator, so I bought a new one at Walmart and finally hooked it up today. I had also bought carpet for the rear entry steps and got those put on. They really make a difference - to me and especially to the dog.

I've been wondering what to do about my filthy carpet so I tried to do some research on the net today. I may have to wait until I reach Savannah to get it steam cleaned, or if I can find one, buy a small Green Machine and do it myself. I wouldn't mind doing it, but after looking at the Rug Doctor that you can rent, decided it was much too large to fool with in this small space.

I still am having computer troubles, and still can't decide what to replace both computers with. I would get another PC when Windows 7 comes out, for close to half the cost of a Mac. On the other hand, I would still have the problems with firewalls, virus protection, constant annoying security updates, and the like. Additionally, I would have to learn a completely new operating system (no one can tell me it will be anything like any previous Microsoft OS), so I might as well learn a new system that is better to begin with. I hate spending the money when I only need email and internet, but there is nothing in between that I can see. I hope I can hold out until Windows 7 is released, and until I can look and try out my niece's Mac.

The leaves are starting to turn and fall here, and autumn has definitely arrived in the Northeast. Winter won't be far behind. I never thought I would live to see the day I'd be too old to want to hang around a cold environment, although I wouldn't choose to be in either Florida, the Gulf Coast, or the desert. Isn't there someplace north that has a decent winter climate?

  1. Before you buy a Mac, wait until later this week or next when Apple is expected to release their new line of Apple computers which reportedly have increased capabilities and lower prices for all its machines. Might be worth waiting a little for.

  2. Oh Gypsy.. I have that Bissel Little Green Machine and it's GREAT! Not sure about doing a full RV floor with it. The nozzle is pretty narrow. It would take a while.

It's wonderful for spot cleaning (our collie sometimes *urps* on our light cream carpet at home)

It gets it out every time in combination with Nature's Miracle cleaner. (available at most Petco's and I find it at local Piggly Wiggly grocery store too)

The older Little Green Machines also have a window cleaning/squeegee attachment I use for all our patio windows on the house and all the inside windows in the motorhome. A little vinegar and drop of Dawn in the hot water resevoir and it steams and cleans all the windows without leaving any streaks.

  3. I've had a Mac now for nearly three years. I love it! It's fairly easy to learn, mind you my first computer was a Mac, then I went to PC because that's what I used at work, but I'm glad to be back at it!

  4. Hi Gypsy,
I, too, want to get rid of the carpet in my 5vr and install those vinyl planks that have adhesive on each plank (or vinyl tile). I read where a tech told you that the problem is the possibility of the slide scratching when it is being retracted.
So...why can't you (and me) keep a piece of carpet to lay down on the floor while the slide is being retracted? (It would be under the slide during transit).
    Just a thought...
    Happy trails!

  5. Rug doctor has a wide track and narrow track. I use the narrow track in our coach and love it. In a short period of time I can have the whole coach done.(under an hour) My Bissel Little Green Machine is alright for spotting but I sure would not want to do a carpet with it.

  6. As I understand it, if you buy a new PC today, you will get a certificate for a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out. This way, you don't have to wait. Check it out.

  7. Hope you're not coming down with something. Take your Vitamin C!

I cleaned my carpets with automobile rug cleaner on my hands and knees. It did a fairly good job. I too had thought about renting a rug cleaner at the grocery store but they are just too big and clumsy. I've heard good and bad about the little green machine. I had thought about buying one but decided against it after reading the reviews on line.

    Good luck!
