February is flying by!

I look at the calendar and think "It can't be the 11th of February already!"  I have too much left to do in the next couple of weeks, and I spent at least an hour today working on the puzzle.  I'd like to get it finished and boxed before I go to Milwaukee.  Of course I will be doing the hardest part last - the blue sky!  Thanks, Nancy, for the link to a product that allows you to roll up the unfinished puzzle and store it.  I might look into that.  (Click to enlarge).

My grandchildren leave me little love notes all over the house, and of course I can't move them or, god forbid, throw them away!

I drove to Costco this morning and was sad but not too surprised to see that gas has risen from $3.07 to $3.37 in just about a week.  I'm not sure why the increase is so high as the cap in trade tax amounted (supposedly) to 10 or 12 cents per gallon.  The average person just can't get a break for too long and then it's yanked away from us.

In considering my wardrobe I am going to have to go shopping before I go to Milwaukee.  I have relaxed my style of living and dressing so drastically that I have little to wear to an "occasion" especially in the cold weather.  I'm going to get something that I can wear with my new sandals, and if I have to trudge through snow in my gym shoes and carrying my sandals in a bag, then I'll do that.

At Costco I bought a bag of organic frozen mixed fruit to go into my protein shakes.   Usually I use frozen blueberries but this time I decided to vary the taste.  I first picked up a bag of strawberries-blueberries-blackberries, then returned them to get a bag of 5 different fruits, including the three mentioned plus cherries and pomegranates.  I tried it out after my walk today and oh my goodness, I've never tasted anything so wonderful!  The only one of those fruits I've never tasted before is pomegranate, so that must be the wonderful flavor.  I never tried them because I don't care for the looks of them!  What a mistake.  I usually add a banana or a couple scoops of ice cream to make the shake extra creamy, but with these 5 fruits it was the consistency of soft ice cream.  That means I'll just have to eat the ice cream in a bowl.

I've yakked on long enough this evening, so I'll just say goodnight and see y'all tomorrow.

  1. t least you bought your sandals already. So you have done something for the trip.

That's some puzzle you picked out. I don't think I have ever had the patience to finish a puzzle.

I love protein drinks but always forget to make them. And I have plenty of protein powder too.
Little love notes are so sweet.

  2. I think the bikini would look really good with the sandals in the snow. Just sayin'. Diesel here in AJ was up to $2.47 but we had to go to the vet for Scooter's meds and found a station over that way where it was only $2.09. I don't understand. It's only about 10 miles away and look at the difference. Oh - a question for you - why can't you leave the puzzle where it is if you don't finish it? Just a thing you have?

  5. I'll have to try that fruit mix. Thanks

If you like tapioca or rice pudding try 3/4 C. milk (almond-cow-soy, whatever) 1/2 t. cinnamon, 2 t. honey, heaping T. yogurt and 2 T. chia seeds. Mix well and let set in the fridge for 2 hours. It's wonderful and gives you 10 grams of fiber along with other healthy goodies from the seeds. I have diverticulosis so it's very helpful with that. You could add the chia seeds to your smoothie. Chia seeds don't need to be ground for your body to digest them.
