TC, FB, and the Eclipse

I visited Lance-A-Lot today. The storage lot was full, and the only decent photo I could get was from the back of the camper. I had to be careful because I was standing right next to the electric fence, and I don't need any additional electrification! An auction was going on somewhere in the vicinity, and I could hear the sing-song voice of the auctioneer. I really enjoy hearing the sound of an auctioneer just as I enjoy hearing the announcer at a horse race-track! Weird?

I hope you can see that the camper is sitting very close to the ground and not up on stilts. I did a few things inside, and took measurements (again) of the overhead cabinet above the dinette as I want to get some plastic storage boxes to try to get organized.

I hope I've seen the last of Facebook. I was going to follow the instructions to delete my account left in yesterday's blog by commenter Cindy, but when I tried to log in I received a message that my account was suspended. I just hope they keep me suspended for a long time. I was beginning to wonder if the alert I got from them yesterday was also a fake, but I guess it was for real. I am not going to respond to them as they directed me to in their email, however. Supposedly they need me to take certain actions and provide information so that they can begin account verification. Just close it out completely, FB.

I tried to take some photos of the eclipse last night but they just didn't turn out very well. I had even gone so far as to read the user guide for instructions on taking night photos. I think I am going to buy a tripod but didn't get it soon enough for the eclipse. I came inside before the eclipse was complete - standing in the damp cold while holding your head in an unnatural position to look straight up isn't easy. I think I saw about half of it, or maybe a little more. A beautiful sight!

Now we can look forward to the daylight hours lengthening, (YEA!) but also a return all too soon to the infernal tampering of the clock and daylight savings time (BOO-HISS!)

  1. No clock tampering over here in Arizona!!! But it might get a bit hot once the days get longer!

  2. Don't feel bad about the eclipse, I slept right through it! Even Al didn't get any pictures. :)

  3. Always glad to see the day's lengthening again. We had a high thin cloud cover so our view of the lunar eclipse was not the best. Maybe next time:))

  4. It must be fun visiting Sir Lance-a-Lot. Wish I lived in a place where I could store an RV in the driveway. I'm going to hate leaving it in storage when I finally buy mine.

  5. We get phishing e-mails all to often. A general guide is never respond to such e-mails via the link they provide. Always go directly to your regular sign in.

Usually, any dire warnings in e-mails with a demand you log on via the e-mail link and verify your information is a scam and should be deleted.

If in doubt, just check whatever online account they claim to represent via your normal sign on procedures only.

It is amazing how many of this scam e-mails arrive in the inbox.

  6. Talked to (and got talked at) a guy at Walmart this afternoon. He and his wife bought a Lance and just love it. I too slept right on through the eclipse.

  7. Did you ever show pictures of the inside of your new RV? If you did I must have missed them when my brother was really bad. I like it, and hope it is easier for you to handle.

  8. We had the same problem with our Lance. I don't even know why they put those windows up there, we never look out ours. I re-chaulked the window several times which worked short term, using white silicone. Last year I decided to do it right and removed all the old chaulking, cleaned around the window including the skin, with rubbing alcohol, trimed any putty tape that had bubbled out, then applied a bead of Goecel chaulk completely around the window smoothing it with a finger moistened with mineral spirits. When the chaulk started to stick to the finger just re- moisten with mineral spirits, to get a nice smooth bead. Then I waited a few days for it to cure and re-did any spot that looked like it had a void or hole. May seem like a lot of work but ours hasn't leaked now in a year.

  9. Hi Gypsy, sorry you are having such a bad time with Facebook. I was checking the Help Page again and found that the best way for you to try to access Facebook to sign in is to NOT respond to any email link; go to Facebook page itself. They do have a new security question (like alot of sites are now using) so that only you can log in. Then you should be able to delete the account. They recommend that you never answer questions via a link; that is the way hackers and spammers get your info (phishing) so is it possible that is what the email is requesting you do to access Facebook? I am just concerned that its not really suspended; that someone is using your info on Facebook.

  11. Thanks for you info about you FB account. So far, mine seems to be fine, but I have it fairly locked down. Hopefully it won't get compromised since my kids all communicate with me that way. sigh. There's lots of photos of the eclipse that people took, so don't feel bad that you didn't take any.
