New Puppy Class

I gave up on spca and we are now signed up for Monday at 7pm at Petsmart.  It's less expensive as well.  I walked from the kitchen into the living room this morning and found he had grabbed the end of the toilet paper roll and dragged it through the hallway into the living room.  What a sight!  I hate to waste anything and to have to throw all that paper away is sad.  When I sat down on the couch he crawled into my lap for a short while, which means he must be contrite because he's not a snuggly dog at all.  That's a disappointment to me in a way because I'd love to snuggle with him, but he is too independent.

I've sat down at least 3 times to try to finish today's offering, but I keep having to stop to keep the little rascal in line.   There is so much I should be doing inside and out, and it just isn't possible.  I may be back later with an add-on to this post.

  1. Don't worry about those other things to do. Just enjoy chasing after your little spitfire. He may just not have time for snuggling right now. Lots of other things to get into. And as he gets older, he may love to snuggle. Glad you found a class for him. Good luck.

    1. At least he has the common decency to look contrite when he does something awful, haha. It's hard to not laugh out loud sometimes.

  2. I am so sorry you are having to go through all this. He is still a puppy and will sooner or later outgrow his bad behavior though I know this knowledge is not helpful right now. Hang in there!

    1. I knew what I was getting into, but forgot about how my age enters into it! I spoke to the Petsmart employee who works with the training classes, and I think it's going to be very helpful to me as well as a more relaxed approach. I'm sure my more relaxed style will fit in well with Petsmart's.

  4. Hang in there, Gypsy! Your world is normal in Puppy Love Lands. You are making memories! I've had my share today with two "gangs" who love me. Wow, what a time, battered! My thin skin can't handle toenails well. Yours too, I'll assume? Ah, Ha, We all have a tissue roll story. Out loud laughter is good for the Soul.btw, your new adventures are shared with the family, for their enjoyment too. I sure enjoy your blog ...and the header picture, a beautiful view.

    1. My skin is thin as well and my arms and legs look terrible! Thank you so much for your favorable comments on my blog and header picture.

  5. So happy that you found a class -- sounds like it will be a great match! Did I mention previously one trick that we often recommend our foster parents use when they get a new Rescue dog to foster? We urge them to get a 6ft long leash (NOT a Flexi-lead which can be so dangerous to dogs and people). Clip the leash onto the dog's collar or harness then tie the leash to a belt around your waist. That way, while you are trying to do something like computer work or reading, etc., the dog cannot be very far from you and you can easily "catch" him doing something he's not supposed to do, whether it's a potty accident or chewing, etc. Re the toilet paper: We rescued a 7 yr old girl -- came home one day and discovered the toilet paper trail all the way through the house from the bathroom to her bed.... just had to laugh because it was probably the only "bad" thing that poor little girl ever did. The other dogs greeted us with horrified looks on their little faces -- they were sure poor Zephyr was doomed. Looking forward to your reports from the class.

  6. Hope this new training class will help you get through a few more rough spots. Toilet paper seems to be a big thing with some of this little ones or maybe even older ones. haha to funny

  7. Now that was funny. I am still laughing about it. That little pup pulling that long train of tp behind him. Yep, I am still laughing. Our pups go to the groomer tomorrow morning. That means it will rain and when they get home they will have to go out and that means they will get all wet and maybe even muddy. Oh well, they do look good when we pick them up from the groomer.
