Trying to be cool and quiet!

I find when I sit quietly I am much cooler, so that's my excuse for the state of my house!

Still nothing new - the heat rises and then comes back down for a few days ("down" meaning the low 90's).    So far the beautiful "Delta Breeze" has been blowing in the early hours of the morning, and I actually enjoy feeling the chill.

I have been craving something sweet for the last week or so but I don't have anything in the house to ease the craving.  If it wasn't so hot outside I would drive to Baskin Robbins and get a big dish of ice cream!

Still waiting on my coffee grinder.

So that has been my day today, and I hope you are having a better one.

  1. I looked up coffee grinders on E-Bay (never thought of that). They had some nice looking ones.

    1. I bought a very cheap grinder and may regret that I didn't get more of a middle-priced model. I expect it to arrive any day now and will try it out right away.

  2. I can empathize with you. I dislike these hellish temperatures. Yesterday I finally had to get out in it (but I waited till the late afternoon) and as a treat for mother (ok, also for myself) I bought some ice cream.

    1. Ah, ice cream. I dream about it, but don't want to get hooked again.

  3. It is hot here, too. Highs in the nineties and lows in the eighties. The biggest problem here on the Gulf coast when it gets hot is the very high humidity.

    1. Well it's extremely dry here. After all the rain earlier in the year, a lot of foliage thrived in the mountains which has now dried out and is tinder for fires. We can't win.

  4. The humidity is terrible here up on the Red River Oklahoma too, but our vegetables are drying up because we haven't gotten out to water them. Go figure . . .

Today I dragged out my 15 year old Sun Oven to see if I can put it to some good use. I can't remember how to cook in it, so will just do something simple. It keeps me from heating up my kitchen or from standing over a grill.

    1. I have a tree that the bark is peeling off of, but I hate to pay for water (and sewage and all the other stuff they tack on) just to pour water on the ground.

  5. We have a well and septic tank which helps. Sorry about your tree. We use a "bubbler" device for our apple trees which lets a slow stream of water slowly seep down around the tree. They are still looking wilted.

Your water is probably liquid gold.

    1. Our water is so bad I have to filtration systems - one pitcher I use for drinking water, and another that I use for cooking, etc. I would love to buy a good filter that would get rid of all the chemicals such as fluoride, but they are really more expensive than I want to spend right now.

    2. Sorry, I have TWO (not to) filtration systems!

  6. I was thinking liquid gold not in purity but in price.

We have to filter our water as well. It seems the safe thing to do these days.
