HELP! (Updated)

I have been told that there is now a "Prove you're not a robot"  requirement on my blog.  I hate those things, for one thing I can't very easily read those numbers, and because I don't have a lot of problems with robots!

I checked my settings and under
Comment modification:  I have checked "Never".

Under "Show word verification", I have "No".

Please be assured that this is not my doing, and I will be glad to remove it if someone can explain to me how to remove it.

If you want to comment on one of my posts but don't like the verification process, please feel free to email me at the address which appears directly under the header photo.

I am truly sorry for any inconvenience to readers wanting to make a comment.  I can't understand how this has come about.

Thanks for your understanding, and for reading and commenting on my blog.

UPDATE:
I found a tiny box with the word "Complaints" on my blog settings page, in the lower right corner.  I submitted the complaint to blogger, but I'm not sure it will be acted upon.  In reading a bit of forum entries for blogger I came across many similar complaints.  It seems that Google has selected blogs that might be susceptible to spam and have arbitrarily added the word verification option to many blogs.  I am furious that Google sees fit to alter a person's settings without even notifying the person, especially when the effects reach the entire reading population of that blog.  Anyone who wants to leave a comment must tolerate this added step, and I don't like it.

I hope Google will remove this unwanted setting, but I don't know what else to do.   Many folks who commented in the blogger forum say they re-visited their settings entered "NO" to this setting but it still appears in their blog.

UPDATED UPDATE:
I'm shouting a tentative HOORAY - I made a small change from the comment being a pop-up window, to an embedded-in-the-page comment.  I'm not sure of why that makes a difference, but I did a  test and didn't get the verification requirement.  Please comment if you can and let me know if it is truly fixed.  Thanks.

  1. I just noticed I am having that same 'word verification ' problem. That is not how I set it up!!!! Bugs me when things change like that without notice.

  2. I was having all sorts of problems posting today. It may be my laptop acting up. I am now using my tablet, If it works, then my laptop has a problem.

  3. Funny - I don't know if they've change my settings, but I'm having problems posting comments, too. I posted a comment on a blog about un-leashed dogs chasing/attacking cyclists and it ended up on someone else's blog post about their thanksiving dinner. Really caused a ruckus on the second blog. Yesterday I almost did it again - weird. Might have been my fault, I'm not sure, but I know I started out on one blog and ended up commenting on another. :(

  4. I haven't been commenting lately. Just reading. So that means I haven't had any problems but I'll see what happens today. I sure hope somebody tells me if that word stuff shows up on my blog. I really hate it.

  5. The comment appears embedded. I'll see if I have to not be a robot.

  8. Here's the testing. I'm thinking I have the same problem. Would appreciate you doing a test and comment on my blog. Actually, I don't think I ever get any readers, just Zip-Bys.

  9. Thanks so much for the info Gypsy. I didn't realize it changed and now it should be working without robot interference. :-). I'm with you Google can at least send emails for updating what they change. Our blog SHOULD be ok now.

  10. I noticed this on a few blogs last night. Like you they are so hard to read. I had to enlarge the it but still the color is so faded it is still hard to read. I really don't like the way they make changes to our blogs without notification and even when you send them feed back or ask a question it never is answered

  11. I do not like the way Google makes changes without notifying users. I can only get online after midnight and so far I have not had any problems posting comments.
