Older Than Dirt!

Jeannie called this afternoon and asked if I wanted to come over for a while, as they were going to sit out by the pool while the girls were playing in the water.  When I got there I found Alyssa (Joe & Sarah's daughter) had spent the night.

I was carrying my new air mattress in a box so I could ask Donald to check it out, as well as the Sunday paper.  Alyssa smiled and asked "Grandma, can I help you?" I told her, Why thank you, yes.  She said "I know you are super old."  I didn't want to laugh but could hardly contain myself I thought it was so funny.  To a small child I guess I am old, and they are so honest they will say what they know to be true.

So that was the highlight of my day.  Surprisingly I feel younger and better than when I went over there.

  1. That is so funny. Kids will say the darndest things. I was a kid when that show aired and I can still remember it and laugh.
Glad she made you feel better.

  2. It is when 50 plus year olds say, "wow are you old"! Now that is what gets you. Of course my long white hair and white beard sort of give my age away (grin). In my opinion you are really young at heart, and that is what matters.

  3. I know to little kids anyone who is a "grown up" is old. When we were at our nephew's his son kept calling us "great Aunt Sherry and Great Uncle David". That was a hoot! Does make me laugh given how old I feel. Sometimes I'm surprised when I see that gray haired woman in the mirror.

  4. Nothing pretentious with little ones. They tell it like it is. Heaven's - by the time I have a grandchild old enough to even talk, I'll be ancient. Glad you had some fun today.

  5. Kids say the funniest things. I remember when I was younger thinking how old my mother was...Now I am that age and I don't think it's old at all.
