Something Different

I was going through my email and trying to decide what I could delete.  I came across one with the following link, and just had to watch and listen to it one more time.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

According to folks in Florida, Arizona, Texas and elsewhere, this is what Wisconsinites do for fun and entertainment on Sunday afternoons....Listen and watch. Not a single spectator walked away during the concert!

    1. I thought it was great. So Wisconsin, and just like cows everywhere.

  2. I think the cows were standing there thinking 'I assume they will get around to feeding us when they stop making all that racket'.

    1. It's hard to know what cows are really thinking, but they seem to be curious, polite, and attentive!

  3. I think the baritone brought them in at first thinking it was a new kind of moo. But they seemed to enjoy the Dixie Land since they were all gathered close around. More quiet and polite than a lot of audiences.

    1. Cows have more personality than most people give them credit for. They are extremely curious. In my travels I often stopped along the road to let Lady out to stretch and relieve herself, and before long cows were ambling over to see what was going on. They always stayed in place until we left.

  4. Cows love music. When I was a little girl on a farm in Missouri I used to sing to them out in the pasture. They would gather around there in a circle and listen for as long as I wanted to sing. Every cow has a unique personality and disposition.

An autistic woman named Temple Grandin changed the way cattle are treated in the meat industry. "She had the ability to relate to animals. Her insight into the minds of cattle has taught her to value the changes in details to which animals are particularly sensitive and to use her visualization skills to design thoughtful and humane animal-handling equipment. She was named a fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers in 2009.[22]" Wikipedia

    1. I am very familiar with Teple Grandin and her work. There are several small commercial herds in California that follow her methods for handling the animals. When I lived in Ireland my house was bsck from the road with small pastures on either side of my driveway. If I walked home late at night from visiting a neighbor, they would walk up the hill with me, and I would call out "Hello Girls1", It was a good feeling to have their company, as I never liked being outdoors in the country alone at night.

    2. How neat you are aware of Temple! She fascinates me and I have watched her you tube interviews. They did a movie about her, but I haven't seen it.

Love your story about the cows walking you home at night.
