At least, it's time for me. I have a sister who lives alone and is still recuperating from brain surgery, and she is desperate for some company. Our niece does light cleaning for her on Thursdays, and I will probably go with her this evening for a visit. After that I am not going out except maybe to walk the dog. We went for a decent walk this morning and came into contact with no one, so I hope we are safe for now. The back yard is large enough so I can exercise him there, but after a while my arm gets tired from throwing a ball!
I've started weeding one of my garden plots because some tomato plants are almost large enough to plant now. I want to wait until at least the first of April, but will undoubtedly have to plant a few of them in the next week or two.
I also plan to stain the back deck this spring. I think we might have another day or two of rain, so I'll have to wait until that's over with. I'll need some things to keep me busy in the coming months. I'll take pictures as I go along!
I hope you all stay safe, wherever you are. We get so much conflicting advice it's difficult to know what to believe. I am going to err on the side of caution and try to stay to myself for the most part. I have enough supplies on hand to last me for several months, although I would hope I don't have to deplete all those supplies and doubt I will. I've been having groceries delivered since I moved here, and hope that will continue to be available to me.

I don't think there is any danger in going out and about as long as you don't mingle with others. We are looking forward to doing lots of walking and hiking. No shopping or indoor stuff.ReplyDelete
I certainly hope there isn't any danger. Mostly the streets are empty except for a few cars (this neighborhood has no sidewalks except for along the school property near me.)Delete
We definitely will be exercising caution. I am 73 & don't want a virus to take me out. Here in Ontario all schools will be closed for two weeks after March break to help prevent spread. Many events have been cancelled. The news changes almost hourly.....I want to get in some extra pet food...Dog has a specialty food from vet that I order on line & pick up at the clinic.ReplyDelete
It is a worry for sure,
We went to the town to stock up on pet food too. That was our major concern.Delete
I order Rocky's dry food in 30# bags from Chewy.com. It's usually delivered the next day, and Rocky recognizes the box and gets so excited.Delete
Kwarthagal, I've also decided this virus is not going to take me out. I will just have to stay at home as at 79 I am vulnerable as well. Good luck and stay safe.
Yes I think we are OK outdoors as long as we don't have to much contact with others. I also need to find some kind of projects to keep me busy and not start laying around.ReplyDelete
Sounds like your getting your garden started hope it is going to go well.
Just getting the garden ready for all those tomato plants is a monumental task. I look out the back door, shake my head and think "Later", and walk away. I need to muster up some energy to get started.Delete
I am a little concerned after various news organizations I trust have said this is only going to be getting worst and new cases will be growing exponentially in the next two to three weeks when it will be dangerous to go out. I have a lot of thinking to do.ReplyDelete
I hope your sister recuperates from her surgery soon. I can hardly wait to see all the crops you will harvest this spring!
I don't think we can imagine the havoc this virus is going to wreak. If we had a strong and capable person in charge who was really concerned about all Americans, things might go better. As it is ......Delete
I agree that it is time to hunker down and be cautious when out and about. At 76 with a compromised immune system (from previous chemotherapy) it is best to stay home as much as possible. We do not have mail deliver in my rural area so trips to the post office are necessary, however, instead of going everyday now I will only go twice a week early in the morning when it is not crowded.ReplyDelete
Maybe buy some nitrile gloves to wear when opening doors, your postal box, etc. I have a box of gloves and just went out to put a letter in my mailbox, but didn't even think about the gloves. We all have to change our habits!Delete
Always have gloves on hand - both nitrile and latex style so am doing good. Have enough food on hand for several months, (along with paper goods, etc. which I have had on hand since last fall). Just have to be cautious and careful. Take care.Delete
I feel like I'm never sure what to believe. The news organization seem to sensationalize everything. But I suppose it's always wise to err on the side of caution.ReplyDelete
I don't listen to the major news outlets, but I agree that everything is sensationalized today. Even so, I am going to try to use my best judgment, which is telling me to stay home and don't be around people. It will be boring as hell, but maybe the dog and I can survive.Delete
We are picking up our first order of groceries at Frys (Kroger) pick up this morning so we dont have to go in the store. Going to see if a couple of docs will talk to us over the phone instead of having to go to the office. Should be able to since it's about blood test results. We are definitely hunkering down.ReplyDelete
Good for you! I wish I could drive to the store to pick up my order. It costs me about $15 in extra fees ever time I have an order delivered!Delete
These are definitely Times to be cautious as even the experts don't have all the answers.ReplyDelete
If you look around the Dollar or Pet Stores they sell what is called a Chucker. It throws a Tennis sized ball saving your arms but giving Rocky a good workout.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I order all Rocky's food and toys from Chewy.com. I love them and they are so personal - Rocky recognizes their boxes when they arrive and goes ballistic to see what is inside!Delete
Also, I forgot to mention I have a chukker, but it hurts my arms about the same as throwing the ball. I have very little strength in my arms.Delete
