Haircut

I would show you a photo of my new haircut except I can't take a decent selfie with my camera.  I took 4 photos and they all look like police line-up shots.  I am very happy with a short "bob" after that stringly long gray hair!    I stopped at Bel Air and picked up a couple bottles of kombucha to help counteract the 4 antibiotic capsules I took before the dental procedure.  I never see negative side effects from amoxycillin, but I know antibiotics kill all the good stuff in the gut, and the fermented kombucha will counteract it.

I was told I wouldn't have to take antibiotics for dental work if I bring in a letter from my doctor saying it isn't necessary.  I've been avoiding doctors for about 2 years, especially the last one I went to.  There was another doctor in the clinic, a homeopathic doctor, and I should probably see if he is still there and I can switch to his practice.  Maybe I'll just let it go for now and take the damned amoxycillin when I go to the dentist.

I feel great today, which is amazing after the traffic I had to drive through to get to the hairdresser.  There is a large area of road construction that has been going on for a long time.  Rancho Cordova recently did a major road overhaul, but they worked from 9pm to 6am, so there was minimal disruption to the traffic.  It probably cost them more in salaries but I'm sure they finished it sooner than if they had to deal with traffic.

I drove through an area of town that is interesting in that some of the streets are named after major inventors of the Industrial Revolution:

Watt Avenue (James Watt - Steam Engine)
Howe Avenue (Elias Howe - Sewing Machine)
Whitney Avenue (Eli Whitney - Cotton Gin)
Edison Avenue (Thomas Edison - Light Bulb)
Marconi Avenue (Guglielmo Marconi - Radio)
Fulton Avenue (Robert Fulton - Steamboat)
Morse Avenue (Samuel Morse - Telegraph)
Bell Street (Alexander Graham Bell - Telephone)

The temperatures should be going down from the upper 90's to the lower 90's for the remainder of this week.  "Should" is the key word here!  It is so pleasant in the morning when it's 59 or 60!

Nothing more to write about from here - hope you all have a pleasant day!

  1. Ditto the love 59 or 60 in the morning. We went kayaking this morning at 60. High was 78 which is why we are in Vermont. It's simply wonderful here. Stand in front of the mirror and take a picture of your hair. We all want to see your new BoB. Do you look like a flapper? That's what I always think of when I hear a haircut called a 'Bob'.

    1. I don't think i look like a flapper - I'm too old to be a flapper, as they were young and pretty.

    2. I took 3 more photos and don't like any of them. Is it true that the camera never lies? I think I look better than what the camera tells me I do!

  2. I love learning some of the history behind names. My last hair cut was soooo short that Jim's hair was quote a bit longer.

    1. Now that would be something to see!

The neighborhood we lived in here during the 1980's was called Sunriver, and every street was named after a river. Appropriately, our street was Yukon River Way (I didn't know then that I would love the Arctic north). My Mom lived on Roanoke River Way. In my travels I have enjoyed coming across many of those rivers, most of which are in the U.S.

  4. I bet your hair looks very nice and as long as you like it, that is all that matters.

    1. I really do like it shorter, but I can't for the life of me figure out why I look so much different on a photograph than I do when I look into the mirror!

    2. Talk about DIFFERENT: have you ever listened to yourself talking on a tape recorder? I have and certainly didn't sound like "me". I tried a selfie once. Horribly ugly! How aging changes our outward appearance. I'm long overdue for some hair attention - down to my waist and too much to pile up and pin out of my way. A crewcut would be very freeing BUT hair grows, we know. Round and round we have to visit the hair cutter. So I have just let it grow - beyond management. In time, it will get whacked off to make wig for cancer victims. So good the temps are finally decreasing; thought I would expire many past hot days with no air cooling to help. Yet I dread cold winter days; being unable to prepare for them is quite a hindrance, to say the least.

    3. You are absolutely right, and I forgot about hearing my voice which didn't sound at all like my voice! Good for you to plan on donating your hair to a cancer victim. My oldest granddaughter did that in high school - she had beautiful long, naturally blond hair and I hope someone loved it. As I found out in Alaska, you can put warm clothes on and wear warm jackets, etc., but when it is this hot there isn't any relief.

  5. Morning here aren't go bad but by 8:30 it is already heating up. Road work here seems to be a never ending thing and the roads are still terrible

    1. There is too much traffic on the roads and they get torn up quickly. The heavy trucks ruin the main roads, but what can be done about it - we need what they are delivering. The house stays cool enough I can do without the fan or the swamp cooler until about Noon.

  6. Based on my better half's problems with hair cuts/ styling, I am glad I have so little hair:)
