New truck

No, I don't have a new truck but my youngest son, Joe, drove over a day ago in his new white Tacoma!  It has a full back seat which means a shorter truck bed, but it will haul whatever he needs to haul.  He had me sit in the driver's seat, then he got into the passenger seat and put the key in the ignition.  It drives like a dream and I took it for a spin around the Park, but not out into traffic!  I've always missed my Ford F-350, but that was just too much for the city driving I now am limited to.  Even when I traded it for the Highlander it was way more truck than I needed, but how I love a pickup truck!

Joe got the ladder out and checked several places where I've heard birds pecking on the roof.    Of course there were none while he was looking, but there were signs they were gathering materials to build a nest.   I went out a few days ago to try to shoo them off my roof when I saw a big fat feral cat sitting in the street next to my driveway, and I swear it had a smile on its face.  I've decided I'd rather have the birds and I'll just watch out for the cat.

This morning I had bacon and eggs for breakfast (no toast, and a corn tortilla just doesn't suffice).  It was wonderful and I feel great.  I fried the eggs over easy and remembered how good they taste that way.  I've become so lazy and usually just scramble them.   Jeannie tells me that the Costco in Folsom carries a gluten free bread and I certainly would like to try it.   She said it looked quite dense so would probably be better when toasted.   I may try to drive out there although I really don't want to, so I'll just wait until I can hitch a ride!

Even though it takes a lot of time and effort to cook such a breakfast, not to mention the clean-up, I'm going to try it for a few weeks and eliminate the raw fruit.    Eliminating gluten and fruit is a start to trying to figure out what is bothering me the most.   I eliminated housework long ago and you'd think I'd feel a lot better, but I don't.   The only positive thing I can say about poor vision is that I don't notice the dust, cobwebs, and such.  I've always been able to ignore the mess!

This afternoon will be a workout at the gym day, after which I usually feel too wired to go to sleep early.    I hope everyone has as good a day as I plan to!

  1. I love a truck myself. I had a huge 81 Ford years ago and then traded it off for a Saturn, it was a really nice car but just couldn't get used to it and went back to a truck smaller than the Ford, but easier to handle these days.

I have found Gluten free bread in just about all the stores hope you find it closer to home.

    1. I might have to ask someone in the store to direct me to it. Tortillas with bacon & eggs just isn't as good as buttered toast!

  2. Gypsy. I tried the gluten free route for my CRPS for six weeks and I didn't feel any better. The dietician at the Pain Centre where I was going told me that if you are not Celiac then there is no reason to go Gluten Free. I found the bread terrible but edible when toasted. I also found that there were more calories in one slice then normal bread and it was much thinner and smaller. I tried to bake some withe the gluten free flour and it was a huge failure. I bake a lot of my own breads. Good luck to you.

    1. My daughter has tried the gluten free route and didn't see much improvement. But I'm going to try everything, and this is just a start. I'm sure I will be eliminating a lot of things from my diet that will eventually make their way back, but for now I'm encouraged to try everything (except for giving up my coffee & cream, which I won't do!). Also, from what I've been reading, Celiac and Hashimoto's are closely related and controlled by the thyroid, so if you have one you can likely develop the other as well. All I want to do is to feel better, so I'll try just about anything. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'll let everyone know what I think of the bread when I can find some and try it.

  3. Sounds like a great breakfast but I agree, it needs toast. Of course it's really all about what sort of food you ate as a kid isn't it. The Tex-Mex kids love tortillas for breakfast. Boy am I surprised that your severe governing body/aka lawn police allow a feral cat to put its paws in your neighborhood.

    1. Not only does the Park allow the feral cats, knowing some of the residents feed them, I heard that the county rounded them all up, took them to be sterilized, and then BROUGHT THEM BACK! At least they can't reproduce but I think other feral cats keep coming into the place as I heard a lot of crying and noise a few nights ago that usually means there is a fight for a female.
