Beautiful Sunday

We are having a warm day today and I'm glad I can open windows!  I'll probably be saying that all summer long.

I went to Costco with Jeannie & her family this afternoon.  I didn't buy much, but somehow a container of imported French brie cheese made its way into my cart.  What could I do but buy a box of cracker varieties to spread it on.  After eating my fill of brie & crackers, I opened up a bag of gourmet honey pretzel & nut mix, and I'm snacking on that now.   I love days like this.  This stuff is more nutritious than you might think, and is relatively low in carbs & sugars than other similar items, and you know how I like to eat healthy!

It's nice to be able to open the windows & doors, but the yapping is awful.   If I had TV I would turn the volume up.  I've been looking to buy a radio for several years but they are too hi-tech anymore to be of interest to me.  When you need a complete set of instructions to turn on a radio, then it's time to go back to basics.

I just tuned into Pandora and have some good music turned up as loud as I can get it.  I understand that the macbook pro doesn't get a high volume because for some reason the system gets too hot.  That sounds like an unlikely reason to me.  I just want "Music to Drown Out Dogs By"!

  1. Neat brie cheese article. Yum! http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/brie-nutrients-1731.html

Maybe you need a loud John Philip Souza marching band to drown out the dogs. lol

    1. Thanks for the article on brie. Heck, I'm in! I don't often eat cheese except when spreading it on veggies, or pizza, etc. This brie is so good I'm going to buy it the next time I'm in Costco.

I can only play music on my computer and I'm limited in the volume no matter what the music. I've been playing African music since I wrote my blog - sort of with a Latin beat, and even some of the words are in Spanish. I love just about all Latin music - when I was a child my Dad would sometimes play Cuban music on the big 78 records. My Dad was strictly of German descent so I could only think he was Cubano in a former life!

  2. I'd much rather snack than actually eat a meal. There's something about eating bite after single bite with my fingers that I love.

    1. Well if you can call my brie and snack mix as a meal, that was my dinner! If I'm in the mood to cook I love a big meal, but cooking for just one doesn't provide any incentive to do it up right!

  3. Latin music is cheerful - upbeat. Perfect music to eat brie by . . . Enjoy.

I'm glad you are feeling better.

    1. It's always been my favorite music. I can remember dancing rhumba when I was in my late teens, and then rock ruined it all.

  4. Just plug some headphones into your Mac.

    1. I can hear it fine but if I walk out of the room it's very faint. I doubt if anyone outside could hear it. I don't have headphones.

  5. "I just want "Music to Drown Out Dogs By"!" 1812 Overture - That's how my sister handled a party across the street from her, years ago that had spilled out into the front yard. She set the speakers up in the windows and let it rip. Everybody went to ducking for cover when the cannons went off. The party broke up real quick. ;>)

Not much of Brie fan, I think it is too salty. Oldest daughter love it though.

    1. Thanks for the hearty laugh! I can just imagine those dogs when the cannons start firing. I love that music, especially when they used to play it in the park in summertime (Cincinnati). I'm still chuckling.

  6. Daughter and I talked about getting a Costco card again today. I just don't thing it is worth it for me, but for her yes. Of course once again we never decided.

I to would go crazy with all that barking, I'm so lucky my dog is not a barker and if he does it is for good reason and when told no he stops. But some neighbors do not respect other people.

Maybe as for buying a radio your looking at the very expensive ones. Try a cheaper model they don't have so many bells an whistles. I know I can't figure out all this techy stuff anymore either

    1. I love Costco and could never give up my membership. I think most of my clothes now come from there (I don't buy many clothes these days - just stuff to kick around in). I definitely look at cheap radios but they are all complicated any more. Back in the "old days" did anyone need instructions to know how to turn on and use a radio? Even old people could do it. That's the kind of radio I would like to have - an on/off button, volume control, AM/FM selector, and station finder.

  7. I understand your trouble with the dogs! Years ago we had the same problem. It took several visits from animal control to the owners to tone it down considerably. Did not stop totally until the dog died. New neighbors now also with a dog but not a barker. Peace and quiet now.

    1. It's pretty bad. I think someone with a yappy dog has moved in nearby just recently, and I hear that all the time. Add to that several dogs chasing around a small fenced area right across the street, barking away while their owners sit in chairs & visit each other, and it's really a nightmare sometime.
