How does he do it?

Rocky can be in the back yard, all the way down  by the fence.  So I figure it's a good time to have a little snack - a bite of ice cream, or a cookie, or a couple of pretzels.  Before I can get it into my mouth, Rocky comes through the back door and straight at me for a share in the goodies.  I want to know how he even knows I'm trying to sneak something past him!

    In my case my hearing is gone enough that I make lots more noise than I hear. This comes from my son and his family.

      That could be true in my case, although I have lost way more eyesight than hearing - at least that is what it seems to me.

    Do you leave the door open? I would close the door if you do and turn up the radio or television...just a thought.

      Yes, I leave the door open. I don't have a radio or tv - I get my news via the computer. I'd like to buy a good radio but the last time i had one it was difficult to find a decent station. I'm becoming too old to live, lol.

    That is one of the mysteries of the universe. I suspect we will never know how they do it. I share a few flakes of my raisin bran with the dogs each morning. If Carol has one out for a walk when I get my breakfast and the one on the walk is 1/4 mile away they want to turn around and come home for their few flakes. Go figure....

      I laughed out loud at the image of the dogs wanting to turn around, although I'm not surprised. I'm just amazed at how their brains work, and how keen their instinct is. They certainly make up for being non-verbal!

    Labs have the best sniffing noses there are. Mine would be fast asleep and me in the kitchen. I would peel a banana and before it was all peeled, he would be there looking for the ends of it. Labs are used for sniffing out drugs, bombs, dead bodies, etc because of their keen sense of smell. Rocky just proved that his sniffer is in good working order. :D

    It is certainly in excellent working order! I still shake my head though, when he's comes from being asleep or far out in the yard.
