Chiropractor visit

I went to my appointment this morning with a list of questions, but forgot to ask about the lemon water.  I did mention that I have been plagued with indigestion and heartburn, and when he checked the nerves leading to the digestive tract he made a couple of very sharp corrections.  I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I haven't had a problem since.  This had become constant, but as soon as I left his office I noticed an immediate difference.  I had decided to use lemon juice in a glass of water every other morning, and will work my way back to every morning if I don't have problems.  Getting into chiropractic care was the best thing I've ever done for myself!

I might add that his office submits the proper forms to Medicare and I have already gotten several checks (one fairly sizeable) in return.  I would consider my money well spent even if I didn't get the Medicare break.

I have to be grateful for every little positive thing, so I am grateful that the weather isn't near the century mark as it has been.  After tomorrow's predicted 91, we should be having a few days in the upper 80's.

I stopped on my way home today and bought a pound of organic grass fed beef.  I cooked several small burgers and ate two for lunch.  I thought I would have them for dinner, but think I will see how I feel later.  I may be having an evening snack of a hamburger tonight.

The heat has really reduced my appetite and I have seen the scale going down a pound every few days.  I have probably lost 3+ pounds during the current heat wave, and my problems with indigestion.  Three pounds may not sound like much, but I don't have it to lose.  I put on a loose, long dress yesterday that fit me last year, and realized I shouldn't be wearing it.  It would be a major sewing alteration to take up the straps, and I have a problem holding it up and in place!  Now that's pathetic.

I need to get back to the gym and at least walk on the treadmill in the mornings.  I've really been lax, but have just felt such a lack of energy and motivation I haven't been able to get moving.

I hope all of you in the southwest can stay cool, and those in Florida, the Carolinas etc., stay safe.  The best to everyone!

  1. Since I have been under the weather, I can't taste so I don't eat as much as I usually do. Glad the doctor got you fixed up. Hang in there, we older people have to tough. My Mom always said that "getting old wasn't for sissies".

    1. I know what you're talking about. This weather has really been hard on me. Us older, skinny folk have to make sure we get enough calories to hang on to our weight!

  2. This heat has been awful and way to soon. And we won't see anything below a 105 until the end of the week if we are lucky.

    1. When I want to cry about 102 or 103, I think of people in the Phoenix area. Try to stay cool.

  3. I know I live in Phoenix when I think 'hey, it's down to 105*, I think I'll go for my walk now'.

    1. I can't imagine ever getting used to that kind of heat. I think I remember you writing that you plan to move to a higher elevation soon - hope that helps.

  4. I sure wish there was some way I could share some weight with you. Even when it is hot out I can still eat. And we are having record heat here in Billings. Normal weather is in the 70's this time of year and it is going to be 95 today. After spending last summer in AZ I do have a different perspective on hot. Glad to hear the chiropractor has been helping you.

    1. I never did like hot weather, even when I was a kid. Springtime is my favorite season. I can't imagine 95 in Montana - what is happening to the world as we know it?

  5. Glad the chiropractor is giving you relief without the use of medication. The heat is back with a vengeance and it is not even summer yet. If I were free to go anywhere I wanted, I would be in Buenos Aires, Argentina who is in autumn right now.

    1. Sounds like a plan, Ms.B. But why stop at Buenos Aires, when it's probably even cooler in Tierra del Fuego? (I just checked the weather, and the closest it gives is Puerto Harborton, Argentina. 36 degrees, feels like 28!)

    2. I like Buenos Aires because I have friends there. It is a big metropolis full of things to do, clubs, restaurants, parks, great tasting wines and face it...I am not going to exercise but I am willing to try to dance tango.

While it gets cold. it does not get bitterly cold like it does in other regions.

  6. I totally agree with you about one of the best things I ever did was find my chiropractor. He is a miracle worker. I'd love to know what he says about lemon water. Temps in Virginia are heading into the 90's this coming week and I am not looking forward to it. It's even worse on the east coast with the humidity.

    1. I need to start a list of questions to ask Dr. G on my next appointment. I totally forgot about the lemon water, but am so thrilled he was able to do something about the indigestion. I plan to drink the lemon water every other day and see how it goes. I notice on one of his handouts he says to drink warm water 1st thing in the morning, as well as periodically throughout the day. I like the morning warm water, but can't imagine it other times of the day.

  7. Time to start drinking some more beer and eating some Gelato!
Just eating protein and avoiding carbs will make it hard to maintain weight.

    1. I actually have drinking a beer every evening during this hot spell. I've found it's almost impossible to avoid carbs completely, and I am one who doesn't count anything - calories, carbs, etc. Hopefully when the weather gets better I'll feel like cooking again.
