Beat the Heat

There is no way to beat it except to stay indoors.  I went out to bring the garbage cans in and thought I would faint!  It's 98 and going up one more degree to 99.  I'd like to turn the swamp cooler up to "high" but it makes so much noise and I don't want to hear it.  So I'll just refill my glass with cold water and hope the temp drops a bit in a couple of hours so I can go out and get some ice cream!  (If I can't get ice cream I'll just have to drink a cold beer!)

My thoughts are with you Phoenix, L.A. and the rest of the southwest.  I know many of you are have worse heat than Sacramento.  Think cool!

  1. Yes best bet is to stay indoors if possible. Went to get my mail today and when I got into the drive way a key fell out of the mail which ment there was a package in the larger box so I had to go back good grief it was enough to make you want to die. But it was cooler today it was only 107

    1. I need to go out today for a couple of errands, but it's only going up to 94! The upcoming weekend will be in the 100 area, and how I hate it when it gets that hot.

  2. I'm thinking like you about this heat. We live in central Calif too.
Everything gets harder to do in the heat. Some days you just have errands to do,
appointments, etc and it takes its tole. Probably getting older doesn't help either . Lol
We usually cool down considerly in the evening. Delta breezes I guess.
Hang in there.... ' this too shall pass ' !

    1. I never did like hot weather, but it definitely gets worse as I get older. Thank god for the delta breeze!

  3. It is only suppose to be in the 90's here in East Texas. Of course, along with the very high humidity that is so common along the Gulf Coast. They tell me the humidity is good for the skin. I would rather have ugly skin and not die of the sticky heat.

    1. The extreme dry air we get in the summer is really bad for the skin. But the heavy humidity isn't good for breathing. Can't win!

  4. Everyone all over is complaining mightily about the heat. It's only June, I wonder what will happen in July and August. We're headed north to get away from mid 90's in Virginia but if we don't do something about the climate chaos both the winters and summers will continue to get more and more extreme with tiny springs and falls in between and perhaps eventually none. Very scary!

    1. It looks like that's the way things are going. It will get worse before it gets better! What really frosts me is that we were warned years ago that this was going to happen, but everyone laughed at the idea.

  5. That is oppressive heat...It is even hot here in the mountains. It has been in the mid to upper 80's which is very unusual. Stay safe and cool.

    1. I'd sure love some upper 80's these days. It's all relative I guess.

  6. I'm up in Payson where it only got up to 98* and I walked over to the visitor center 2 blocks away. There was a couple there who had come up from the valley (Phoenix) who were complaining that it wasn't any cooler up here. After spending the past few weeks moving in 110+ I looked at them like they were crazy. 98 felt almost cool to me. After living in Mesa 70 is jacket weather to me as well.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. It was 99 yesterday at this time, and 91 today - what a difference! It might go up another degree or two, but so far so good.
