Nothing much happening here - I've tried to get out at least once a day to shop for groceries and other items.  I bought an electronic programmable thermostat which Steve is planning to install tomorrow and which should save me on the utility bills.  I will set it way back at night and about 65 during the day, which is where I have the current one set.

Steve is also going to bring over a leather rocker/recliner and I can't wait.  I've wanted one since I moved here over a year ago.  The old fabric LazyBoy has served me ok - Yvonne left it here when she left - but it looks very old and faded.

I've decided to go ahead and get a flu shot although I sure hate to do it.

It has been so nice to have sunny days for a while but looks like tomorrow afternoon we'll get more rain.  It hasn't warmed up enough the past couple of weeks for me to get out and pull some of the grass & weeds that the rains have already brought on.

Joe stopped in with his girls yesterday - his classes don't start until the end of this month so he went snowboarding today, and will take Sarah and the girls to Disneyland next week.  He's suggested we could take a drive to the Redwoods while he's off - anything to get out of the city is fine with me.  I haven't been to the Redwoods since the 1980's!

Joe told me he had to put his beloved dobie, Chili, to sleep a couple of days before.  She was 14 yrs old and had developed many tumors over the past couple of years.  She was a beautiful dog and probably the most intelligent dog I have ever met.  He said she made a last patrol around the yard on that day, and though she was in pain and barely able to walk she managed to actually run that last time.  She will be missed by all of us.  She and Lady had a sort of truce between them, but neither of them had much use for the other. Females!

I walked with Jeannie earlier this week and thought I did really well - kept up with her at least.  Then after about a half hour I decided to sit out a couple of laps.  Well, she took off and I can't believe how fast she was walking.  She alternated the power walking with jogging - and I was impressed.  She is certainly in her prime!

Time to fix my supper.  Y'all have a good weekend.

  2. A trip out of town - yes, yes, yes. Glad you're feeling better. Our there walking and tearing up the sidewalk. I would have been sitting out most of the laps.

  3. I have a programable thermostat and love it. I have it turn down to 65 at 10:30, and about 6:45 it turns it back up to 78. The only time I really suffer is when I go out of town for a few days, and turn it to manual and set it at 60 all the time I am gone. Takes for-ever to warm up. I'm all in favor of having a flu shot.

  5. I always hate to hear when a dog passes. Glad you are feeling better and out walking. That is always good exercise, keep it up but don't over do it by trying to keep up with someone else.

  6. Sounds like you are on the right track both mentally & physically. I haven't been a flu shot person either but sometimes we just have to make some changes in our thinking.

  8. Oh lucky you going to the Redwoods. Can't wait to hear about it. I've managed to avoid the flu and the flu shot so far. Hope it turns out well for you.
