New Foundation!

We visited our new house site yesterday and took some "before" photos.  The foundation is in, and the building will be complete for our move-in date of December 21.

In the right foreground will be my garage, and my living  space will be in back of that, all along that side.

This area will be next to my side of the house, and the trees are a protected species (I believe they are oaks).  For all of you non-West Coast readers, the grass in California dries up in the summer and looks like straw, unless it is watered daily.  In the winter, we normally have a lot of rain which turns all the grass the most beautiful shade of green!

These are all the pictures I will post today.  The property goes back to the trees, and the photo doesn't give you a good sense of how much distance between the house & trees.  There will be two houses to the the other side of our place.  I'm sure we will keep track of the progress being made on the building of the house, and I'll try to post photos as progress is made.  It is really difficult to imagine the spaciousness of this model when you only see the foundation.

Jeannie & Donald will have two stories of living space, and it is going to be spectacular!  I wouldn't know what to do with the amount of square feet they will have, but I'm sure a family of four will be able to enjoy it.  I feel like I'm the luckiest woman in the world!

  1. Exciting brand new things and wonderful to look forward to... you certainly are lucky. daily... there seems to be things that i can no longer do... put my crockpot away for one, so heavy and its place is on a top shelf.. was able to get it down with a step stool, but for once i thought ahead and don't thing i can get on the stool then bend over to lift the thing over my head.. seems like just last year i could do that easily from the floor even and not need a stool... well, that is what my son is for i guess.. can't wait to see progression pictures!!

    1. I am the same way. Jeannie is here now and cleaning my kitchen cabinets and re-arranging all the stuff that is in them. Yesterday she did the fridge. Did I say I'm a lucky woman? I've been thinking about when we move ito our new house, I would like to hire a cleaning service so Jeannie won't have to do it all.

  2. It looks like it is going to be huge. And your own place for you and Rocky. Yet all the help you need right there. That is wonderful. Looking forward to more pictures as it progresses.

  3. I am very glad to see you sounding so upbeat! Keep it up and best luck. I have followed your Blog from when you bought your 5th wheel and it has been a long journey with ups and downs, just like most of us have. 👍👍

    1. I am going to be completely satisfied, whatever space I have! I could never have my own space in a new home if I wasn't for Jeannie & Donald, and their generosity.

    1. I know - my own kids seemed to grow right before my eyes and now they are parents themselves. You have to enjoy everything you have, while you have it!
