A Day of Mostly Rest

Not because I wanted to rest.  I took a benadryl this morning because the allergies were acting up again - it was really awful.  I just took another one this evening (and gave one to Rocky) and hope I can get some sleep tonight, as well as to get something for the allergies that doesn't contain the antihistimine.  I think that is the part I'm allergic to.

I did finish (mostly) putting all the clean laundry away and plan to stay away from the laundry room for a while.  I had bought a set of really high quality sheets at Costco, washed them, and put them on the bed last night.  I got a wonderful night's sleep and the fitted sheet didn't pull away from the mattress as the cheaper ones from Target and Walmart do.

I think Ara's Steven had to go back to work and I believe he might have left today.  Every time I see him I like him more!  He's extremely helpful, easy going, and fun to be around.  He and Ara are both musical, performing at times with groups in the Pittsburgh area, and he played music for us out on the deck yesterday evening.  Ara sang with him in some of the songs, and when he played one of my favorite bluegrass songs I even sang along!  Ara will be here for another week, I believe, and I'm making a list of places she might drive me.

It topped 80 degrees today and I'm unhappy about it.  It will be that way until later into next week, but won't go down very much.  Fortunately the mornings are cool and nights are great for sleeping.

I tried to take a couple of photos today, and when I get several of them together I will try to post them.

I hope I can buy a new computer this weekend.  The one I'm using is so difficult - the font changes the print size in the middle of a word or sentence, and it's just generally such a nuisance to use.

I need to go chase Rocky down - he went out into the yard and I'm surprised he is still out there.   He just walked in with a squeaky ball in his mouth.  It's too late to play, Rocky!

  1. I started taking Clariton D its' quite expensive but it works great for me and doesn't make you sleepy or groggy. I should only work for 10hrs but it last me about a day n half. they have them stronger but they are more expensive and why waste the money.
Does Rocky bark while out in the yard playing? Sounds like he really is liking his new home

    1. We discovered at our pharmacy at Kaiser that there is a generic Claritin D, no prescription, you just have to ask for it. 100 tablets, for 11.95 here in Oregon..works great. Peggy

  2. I'm going to try to get some Claritin D tomorrow. I don't want another day like this one!

Rocky generally doesn't bark when he's out in the yard, unless maybe when I am with him and he wants to play ball.

  3. I can hear Rocky thinking: Ah,Freedom, How Wonderful!. May you too get free of your allergy. I know that's no fun.

    1. I just corresponded with Rocky's breeder about his constant jumping on people, and she gave me some good advice. I hope it works, because that is the biggest problem I have with him, although chewing follows a close second!

  4. I have a Lanova (a division of IBM) seventeen inch laptop and love it. I don't like anything any smaller and since I can type, I like its full size keyboard, too. I don't know if they still make the bigger laptop but if you are in a store that sells them, ask if they have any in stock or can order you one.

    1. I could never go back to a non-Apple computer. I've been using a Mac for almost 15 years. Ara has a huge desktop Mac that I gave her - it requires using a mouse and to get from one side to another takes a lot of action with the mouse. Ive ordered another 13" Macbook pro - it will be difficult enough to get used to because they have been changing it almost beyond recognition.

  5. In order to go to sleep a lot of people at the Chili Cook-off take Benadryl, I tried it once but sadly it did not work for me.

Ara's Steven has to be a great guy to get the Gypsy's Seal of Approval. I am glad she is going to marry a wonderful man.

Rocky seems to have assimilated to his new home.

    1. I can take Benadryl maybe one or two days straight, but no longer than that. It does things to my balance, and gives me spells of feeling like I will pass out. No good! For the allergies this year I took one pill 2 days in a row and gave one to Rocky as well. I have to remember to get something like Claritin the next time I'm out.
