It's not much, but it's a start. I had 3 tomato plants I've been wanting to set into the ground, and when I found a tiny tomato on one of them I figured I'd better do it soon. Now I have the plants in a small part of the gardening space, and bought some wire "cage" sort of things to put over them, plus stakes to hold them up as they grow. I know it's not much but I feel like I've accomplished a lot. I really need to have the rest of the garden area tilled in order to be able to plant seeds.
Ara drove me to Home Depot and I was stunned to find that I couldn't locate a thing. I don't think it's that they have moved the merchandise around, although they have done some of that, but the quantity on the shelves and in the aisles was just overwhelming to me and i couldn't find anything I was looking for. I definitely would like to get a bird feeder as there are a lot of birds around - many more varieties than I ever saw when I was living in the mobile home park. Of course, there are a lot more trees here. I also hope to attract hummingbirds. There is an Ace Hardware closer to me than Home Depot, so tomorrow I will see what I can find there.
Some photos of the new sofa, with recliners on either side, and I have ordered a reclining chair to match. The other photos are of the back yard. These were taken with my phone and are not the quality of an actual camera, in my opinion. They seem to enlarge slightly when you click on a picture.
For all the work I've been doing I am sad that I don't seem to be progressing at all. There are still boxes to be unloaded, items to discard or to donate, and just a lot more than I ever expected. I should have weeded out more before I packed and moved here, but it all happened so fast I just wasn't able to do it. I'm really noticing a lot more aches and pains also, and I guess it's mostly age taking its toll. How I hate to admit that!
I'm happy to see some cooler weather returning towards the middle of this week - I love it when temps are in the 60's. Weather patterns seem to be so different all over the country, so it's anyone's guess what the summer will be like.
Here's to a great week ahead!

I love your sofa it looks so comfortable!
ReplyDeleteThe sofa is very comfortable and Rocky loves it too! I keep an old quilt over it so he won't scratch it. I'll be glad when the matching reclining chair is available and hope to claim that for myself, although I don't think dog's understand things like that!
DeleteWhat a nice yard,so glad for you and your darling pup! To you getting settled in with everything just right seems like slow progress, really it's amazing how much is done already. Hope you enjoy, each day relax take a bit of time and celebrate having a nice new home.-Mary
ReplyDeleteI do really like this place, although I know Rocky misses all his friends - people and dogs - from our old neighborhood. It is so much quieter here especially at night. I heard the traffic 24/7 from my old place.
DeleteLove your new sofa! You had mentioned you were going to have a large yard but I did not envision it to be this large, no wonder Rocky likes being outside.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I moved I was in my twenties and I am embarrassed to admit that even after a year I still had unpacked boxes...so it is not an age thing...you are doing great!
Now that you mention it, I doubt if I've ever completely unpacked either!
DeleteHi. When I click on the pictures they enlarge as big as my iPad screen. Great pictures. Great place for Rocky to run! I wonder how long you
ReplyDeleteexpect to wait for the recliner? I wonder if there is a chance any of your friends from the park might come visit? If one could bring a dog over once in a while to play in your back yard, would be a good thing. Like play dates. You will get everything in order soon enough. Meanwhile just try to relax a bit.
I think the silence must be good???
I am expecting to hear from one of the women from the old neighborhood who is going to bring her dog over to play one of these days. I guess she knew better than I how long it would take me to get settled. Yes, I enjoy the silence, especially considering I could hear freeway noise day and night at the old place.
DeleteI think the furniture store told me it could be up to 3 months for the chair, and of course, it might be sooner than that.
DeleteLooks like you found a great place for you and Rocky to live. Lots of room for gardening and for Rocky to run and play.
ReplyDeleteI am getting a late start for gardening this year, but when I hear that we will be in the 60's later on this week I guess I can't go by the regular planting dates.
DeleteWhat a great yard and I could see the planting boxes. Hope your tomatoes make it. Love the couch it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think the couch is beautiful too, and can't wait to get the matching recliner. We are expecting much lower temperatures and rain later in the week, and I hope the dirt in the planting boxea is easier to work with. I will need to add a lot of peat moss, fertilizer, and other soil amendments before I can plant anything else in them. I don't know if the tomatos will be ok, but I hope so.
