Getting to go "Bye-Bye"

Anyone who has raised a child will recognize the magic in the words "go bye-bye"!  I'm now reverting to my childhood, and when I had the chance to ride along with Jeannie yesterday to pick up orders at Target, Whole Foods, Total Beverage, etc., I jumped at it!  I wasn't disappointed as it was so energizing to just be out and about, seeing the people and the traffic, and of course, visiting with my daughter.  Kudos to the businesses who make it possible to shop with them, without having to risk the health and well-being of one's-self, store personnel and other shoppers.  Target, Total Beverage, and Whole Foods are the businesses that come to mind that make this possible.  On the other hand, it is amazing (and disheartening) to see the number of people who totally ignore safety practices such as wearing a mask.

I came home as totally exhausted as if I had done a full day's shopping and going in and out of stores, while I never left the passenger seat of Jeannie's vehicle!

I think and hope the triple digit temperatures are over with, although the 2-week forecast ahead predicts temps in the 90's for the entire period.   It will be interesting to see what the winter brings!

  1. I ate at a restaurant for my birthday the other day...it was exhilarating to be out and about. I dressed up and everything...make on, hair combed, etc. A far cry from wearing PJs and house dress all day with messy hair. The restaurant had patio seating. It was wonderful to be out.

  3. You sound better. Good to hear. I have been doing shopping too, always wearing a mask. A lot of stores have rules to wear one, which is good. 👍

    1. I probably haven't been inside a store since February. I order online and have my orders delivered, and if I need anything at Target or other stores, I add my list to Jeannie's and we do a parking lot pickup. She opens the hatch in the rear of her vehicle and the employee brings her purchases out and places them in the trunk. It works so well and I'm grateful for stores that make it possible to pick up an order without having to go inside. Also, she wipes everything down before removing it from the trunk.

  4. I go shopping with Jim. He drives, I go in the store. But we still have not been to a restaurant since March. We will head back to AZ this week. Hope we dont run into any fires. The west is nurning.

    1. I am sick to think of what has been lost in the fires, and they aren't even close to being extinguished.

  5. Sounds like a nice day for you. My daughter asked me if I want to go out to eat Friday, nope not happening of course if it is outdoors then maybe but I don't know anywhere close by that has it. I've been isolating since March with only going into a store 2 since March so I'm not ready to eat out while we still have new cases everyday. Not alot but now the college is open and it has gotten higher again.

    1. I think, realistically, we are looking at a couple of years of danger from this virus. It's going to get worse soon and if people get lax about isolating they will be at high risk. Isn't it the worst thing you can imagine - at an age where we should be able to enjoy life, retirement, travel, etc., we have to worry about the worst thing we've ever experienced.

  6. You sound so happy! I am glad you got to ride along with Jeannie to pick-up your purchases. From what I see on TV (our channels come from San Antonio 144 miles east of us) there are lots of Mom and Pop shops offering the same service of curve side pick-up as the big stores.

Just saw where you can adopt a pet online and they will bring it to your vehicle. You can even purchase margaritas and mix drinks to go with your food order at some of the Mexican restaurants in that city...wish they offered that here :-(
