Another Accident

Last night I tripped over my own feet again, and fell to the kitchen floor.  Somehow in the process, I hit the ribs on my left side against the fridge.  Today I have been in some serious discomfort.  I don't know what the answer is - I can only get around my own house by walking, but it seems I can't stay upright while I'm doing it!  I'm now in some serious pain, although I haven't asked the doctor to prescribe anything for it.  Maybe tomorrow I will look into it.  I really don't want anything narcotic, although I doubt a non-narcotic would be much help.  I guess I should ask for something strong, and just sit back and enjoy the trip it might take me on, lol.  Actually, I would be more likely to get an adverse reaction and it would be a nightmare!

Jeannie and Arianna found a dog park for Rocky and took him back there this evening.  The dogs can run free, and usually group together by size and activity level.  That was my experience at the dog park where I formerly lived.  The big young studs don't really want to be with the older and/or quieter lapdogs, and vice versa.

I know I have a birthday coming up next month, but I honestly could not remember how old I will be.  I had to look at the date online to see what year it is, and subtract my year of birth from that!  I would have been perfectly happy not knowing, but of course I had to check it out!  Now I wish I had just let it go.

I hope I have a better tomorrow, and of course, I wish you all the best!

  1. Gypsy, you should put a cold pack on those ribs, 3 or more times per day, for at least 48 hours. It will help the pain & bruising.
    Take care.

  2. Sure hope you are feeling better today. If not, you need to see the doctor. My mom used a walker around the house. One with wheels and a basket. She hated it at first but quickly fell in love with it. Didnt worry about falling and could carry stuff in the basket so she didn't have to get help from anybody. I bet Rocky had a blast at the dog park.

    1. I visited the doc this morning, and I'm waiting for an Rx. Jeannie says Rocky loves the dog park and gets along well with other dogs his size. There is at least one other black lab that is usually there.

  4. What is it about us of a certain age? I, too, have a birthday next month. How did I get this old. By not dying I guess. I saw on TV that 4 out of 10 people over 65 fall each year. Well at least 3 people should be thanking me because I take their turn.

    1. And 3 others can thank me as well! I don't recall being clumsy in my younger years but I sure have changed!

  5. Really sorry to hear about your fall. So glad you didn't break anything. I'd let them give me whatever medicine would help since it's only temporary. Why do pain if you don't have to?
Wonderful that Rocky gets to go to a dog park! That will give him lots of exercise.

  7. I am glad you went to see the doctor and hopefully by now the medicine he prescribed has done its job. You do not mention it but I hope there was someone home to help you get up. There is nothing scarier than coming home and seeing your loved one laying on the floor.

    1. My daughter was in the kitchen and saw me fall and slide across the floor right into the edge of the fridge door. I was able to get myself up after I could breathe again.
