Nothing to update!

I like to update my blog posts now and then, but there sure isn't much, if anything, to update these days.

Weather:  Hot and dry, over 100F!  When it goes over 100 it doesn't matter what it is exactly, it's HOT!

Personal News:  Since I'm in isolation, and have been since March 1st, there is definitely no news.  I have only been out once when I went with Jeannie in her car to pick up some grocery orders.  We didn't even get out of the car as the store brought them out and put them in the back of the van!  I felt like I had made a real trip somewhere, and it was wonderful!  (I just can't believe I've been in isolation for over 3 straight months.)

Other News:  The national news is a nightmare.  It is said that George Floyd's last words were calling on his deceased mother.  I hope he is at peace and with his mother now.

Rocky:  My boy is happy to stay indoors for the most part.  We just went out to get the mail, and I feel awful for him having to walk on the hot driveway.  It's cement, which I hope is not as bad as blacktop would be.

Garden:  Holding up fairly well, although I think it is a few degrees hotter than the plants would like it.  I water it twice a day and just hope they are getting enough.  A few of them look a bit scrawny and wilty!

My TV:  I've managed to turn it on for an hour or so a day to watch a documentary about WWII, and Hitler's escape out of Germany.  I have always been interested in history, and this is an excellent series.  Even though I was born about a year before the US entered the war, I have no recollection of anything to do with it.  My parents no doubt got news on the radio but they never turned it on when the kids were around.  Wonder how they managed to get us out of the way?

How are all of you managing to keep from losing your sanity these days?

    1. I just use my checkbook for the birthdays. Not as much fun as shopping for presents, but much easier, especially these days.

    2. With three sets of grand parents for a pair of grandkids, it is rough present giving. I may have to resort to $$$.

  2. Dogs feet will get burnt, so if you can keep Rocky on dirt that would be better. I've seen some horrible pictures of people who walked their dogs on hot cement or asphalt.

    1. I usually walk him in the morning before it gets too hot, but he likes to go out the door whenever I do so I let him go to get the mail. We try to get into the shade that we can find, and I let him walk on the neighbor's grass as we pass their yard.

  3. I always fins something to keep me going. I don't go out unless it is necessary. Last week went for labs and tomorrow a follow up. I work on the yard early in the morning. Today I had a grocery delivery so I set up my little station on the porch to wipe everything down and then brought in the house in my own bags. Oh Fred went to the groomers yesterday he was filthy and his nails needed trimming. She comes out and get him and in 15mins he done and she brings him out and away we go

    1. I need to find a good groomer nearby - Banfield (PetsMart) refused to honor our appointment because they said I didn't give Rocky the calming meds they mailed to me. Well, they didn't mail me anything, at least it didn't reach my mailbox. I'm getting desperate but don't want to try to find a new groomer while the virus is still active.

  4. Wish I could have seen that history program. Do you remember who did it? Pretty sure Hitler didn't escape. He died of suicide in his bunker in Berlin with Eva Braun whom he had married the day before. After my next post, I'm going to have absolutely nothing to say. You wrote a very nice post about what's going on in your life. There is seriously nothing going on in mine and I'm getting very very tired of being stuck.

    1. It looks like Hitler escaped to Spain, then to the Canary Islands, and then on to Argentina. In the series I've been watching it is almost a proven thing that he ended up in Colombia where there was a large population of Germans who supported him. He was planning to establish a Fourth Reich, and he had his eyes on America. His ego was too big to just give up and kill himself in despair - think DT!

The next time I have the tv on I will try to write down how to access it - if I can. I get so frustrated with technology these days - in my younger days I was on top of everything. When I took an early retirement and backpacked 3 months of the Appalachian Trail, I rejected most technology and never felt more alive in my life. I've been forced to accept some tech, but I don't like it. I tell you, I'm thinking about getting a wall phone, if they actually make them anymore.

I watched the 5 part series on my new TV, but it wasn't on a regular channel - don't know if it was Netflix or what. I'm not into TV so I really stumbled on it accidentally.

  5. While many people try to not give credence to what is going on in our country...I embrace it!

This has NOT been easy for me as some of my dearest friends "do not get what is going on"...and that in itself sadness me :-(

    1. I wish more young people would educate themselves to what is going on, as well as the background, which goes back years/decades. Then I wish they would register to vote and do their civic duty. And there has to be a way to prevent other countries from interfering in our elections, although it's up to the individual states to protect our votes.

California has more than one way you can vote- you can go to the polls, or you can use the ballot that is mailed to every registered voter in the state; you can fill it out at home and mail it back, or take it to one of the polling places and cast your vote there. It works so well and from what I understand, there is much more safety of the ballots, as well as higher voting turnout, with this system. Also, there is no valid excuse for not voting when you don't even have to leave home to do it.

Finally, I think the federal government is obligated to work with every state in the union to insure that the votes are not tampered with, especially by foreign countries. Then we need to GET RID OF THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE, which is too corrupt to be a part of our vote process.

    3. I do not know how I missed this....

"His ego was too big to just give up and kill himself in despair - think DT!"

I could not agree more Gypsy!

So he died in South America? Would love to see that documental if you run into it again please let us know how to access it. I wonder WHY they claim he committed suicide?

    4. As to why they claim he committed suicide, he wanted to escape to a place where he had supporters, and could be kept in hiding from the many authorities who would love to have charged him with all his crimes against humanity. South America was where many Nazis went and they found haven with so many fascist dictators there at that time. Those Nazis wanted to continue their goals of world domination, and the continuance of the "pure race".

There is a series called "Hunting Hitler", that is available however I am not technologically able to tell you how to view it. I'd suggest you Google it and see if you can get access. My new TV was able to show it, although every time i wanted to watch an episode I had to fool around with it to be able to access the program. I have never been much of a TV watcher and the newer models are so much more technically advanced I have trouble figuring out how to view much of anything. I watched the programs for 3 seasons of it, but the 4th season never was aired, so you are kind of left wondering what happened at the end of the 3rd season. I might add there are a lot of debunkers who say this is all fiction. Of course there are lots of people who wouldn't want you to know of it, if it is really true. It's a good program and provides a lot of food for though at any rate.

Here is a link for season 1 programs. Can you access the history channel? I think if you google it you may be able to view it in several ways, but I'm not sure about that. I love history and since this stuff happened during my lifetime, I have been extremely interested in it.
