Extreme Fatigue

I don't know what I will do if I can't find a remedy for the extreme fatigue I'm experiencing.  It never goes away, and from what I can tell, it's caused by my thyroid.  Not sure if I have a definite appt. booked with the endocrinologist, but I may send her a msg asking if there is anything I can take to give me back some energy.  Maybe I need a tonic or something, although I hate to diagnose and treat myself for something like this.

I am trying to push myself to go to the gym often, and this evening I will meet Jeannie there when she gets off work.  I can get through the routine, but it doesn't energize me, just wires my brain so I have trouble going to sleep later in the evening.

Because of this I don't have much to blog about these days.  I would miss it terribly if I stopped altogether, but I may skip a day or two now and then and I hope nobody worries if they don't see a post every day.

I sure hope you are all doing better than I am at this time.

  1. Better get your heart examined. That might be the cause of your fatigue. I feel for you.

    1. I am under the care of a cardiologist, and know I have mitral valve prolapse. The fatigue has only been evident starting 1-2 yrs ago, and in all the reading I've done I truly believe it is due to my thyroiditis. I see my regular doctor next week but she only looks for things she can write an Rx for. Not unusual for most doctors here these days.

    1. Thank you, Janet. I hope so too. I'm debating sending a msg to the endocrinologist but I sure hate to go in for an appointment.

  3. Message your endocrinologist and get the blood tests to check your hormone levels. I am on the medicine, and it is cheap(ish) and I have no issues with it. Mom has been on it for decades and did have issues after a couple of decades, but is on a different version now and is back to driving and living a full life again at 86yo. Get the checkup.

    1. I think maybe my condition has worsened since I saw the endocrinologist and took the tests, and maybe they should look at it again.

  4. I have heard there are doctors that specialize in thyroid disease only.
There are more than the 3 main tests that most doctors give you. Very
detailed ones. It would help you to at least get a diagnoses or go a different
    direction.
I feel for you.... So frustrating . Don't give up!

    1. I have had the tests and the diagnosis, but I guess I didn't need to take medication according to the test results. I a going to ask the doctor again.

  5. I had my thyroid destroyed with iodine (therapeutically) in 2004. It took a while to get the dosage right, but the thyroid replacement has been doing a good job at allowing me to have a normal life. It is a nuisance to need to take a pill EVERY DAY, but don't let that deter you from getting checked over by an endocrinologist.

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    1. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I do have an endocinologist, but she determined from a battery of tests that I didn't warrant taking medication yet. I am going to ask her to check again because this just isn't the way anyone should have to live.
