Still battling weeds!

When I went to pay my April rent this morning I told the Park manager that I was trying to keep up with weed & grass removal, but that I planned a complete redo of the yard later on in the summer.  I worked at the library this morning, and when I came home I went to pull some weeds on one side of the house - Leslie, the mgr. drove up in her cart and comiserated with me on the weed problem, so I guess I can just keep pulling until I leave for NY.  I divide my yard into 3 main sections, and by the time I'm back at the first, the weeds & grass have taken over again.

I worked out at the gym last night and am just now beginning to feel the soreness in my shoulders.  It's a "good ache" though.

You may remember that two months or so ago I commented that the sun wasn't setting in the place it normally set.  I've been reading that many people have noticed that the sky and moon don't look right, and don't seem to be in the right place.  The answer was that the planet has tilted just enough to make it noticeable.  Whether that's entirely accurate or not, it makes me feel that I'm not imagining things.  The sky doesn't look right, nor the movement of sun and moon.

Maybe the earthquakes happening in places that they never used to occur have changed things.  With all the fracking wells, some in unimaginable places (middle of commercial orchards for example), plus the preponderance of fracking wells, I wonder why the states are still allowing it.  I wouldn't want to live in Oklahoma these days - I believe I heard a few months back that OK topped the list of all 50 states for earthquakes in one month.  They also have wells everywhere they can drill them.

Oh well, I didn't mean to get into a controversial subject, but of all natural disasters, I worry about earthquakes the most, followed by volcano eruptions.  Even some long dormant volcanos are becoming active.  You can run but you can't hide from all this scary stuff.

  1. You are right that something "odd" has been going on. Last week my SIL was able to stand a broom upright on the kitchen floor and it actually turned from and east-west direction to north-south! And it stood there alone all day! There were reports on-line of people being able to do this....something about the poles switching or changing. Somehow we have managed to live in areas of doom all our life. Our tiny hometown is near the huge slide that killed 43 people 2 years ago and we are down the valley from the Glacier Peak volcano that could erupt and send a lahar that would wipe the town out. The town is built an an ancient lahar from this volcano. We also lived in Minnesota and Arkansas for a time and had killer tornadoes come through both places we lived in. In Idaho we found out the small town we lived in had received fall-out from the atomic testing back in the day from AZ or Utah and people who had drank milk as children there were developing cancer. Not sure there are any safe places anymore, but we do have an emergency food supply and water for when the next big quake hits the Pacific NW. Every time we drive down the valley we have to pass through the middle of the slide and it's a long minute of wondering if/when the rest of the mountain will come down.

    1. I can only imagine how you feel, but there are no places left that have no potential for disaster. Theh only thing we can do is try to keep positive and work and hope for the best. I worry about the world my grandchildren grow up in though.

    2. Exactly my feelings. We are raising a grandson and have other grandkids and I think I worry more about them than I did my own kids. Can't dwell on all the craziness, though. And you are right about keeping positive. It's very easy to let all this "un"easiness creep up on you.

    3. That is the scariest part - thinking about what kind of life the children can look forward to. I remember the 50's and the Cold War though, and I was so worried then about what kind of world my little brothers and sister were going to live in.

  3. You just scratched the surface of all the things that could go wrong and kill us all. Life on this earth has been whipped out several times in the past and most surely will be again.

    1. It's worrying though I try to stay positive. It seems that everything is going wrong in the past few years, maybe if we all concentrate on positive thoughts and vibes, that energy will prevail over the gloom and doom. One of the biggest problems is that our leaders (everywhere in the world) don't seem to care or try to improve the planet we live on.

  4. I totally understand the weed and grass problem, and if I don't have enough of my own my neighbor does nothing with his yard and his bushes are growing all into my yard and I will have to pay some one to cut them back.

    1. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell whose property a bush is actually on. My neighbor on one side doesn't mind if I trim the bushes, and this year I'm going to trim the heather back that is on his property. I do mine every year but this year after the first blooming I'm cutting it all back!

  5. I live in Oklahoma and have read it is the most seismically active place in the world. We are on the Red River and I can see Texas from my place. The worst quakes are in and around Oklahoma City. The place we moved from in Texas also had quakes just recently but the Texas Railroad Commission (who oversees the oil and gas industry in Texas) says there is nothing to worry about and it is not related to fracking.

Further west of us on the River ranchers are fighting the Bureau of Land management who is trying to take land that has been in their families for many years. They call the battle the "Red River Rumble."

  6. Glad to hear the park manager is aware of your weed efforts and sympathetic. There really is only so much you can do without devoting your life to it. Boy would that be a waste. Wonder why we haven't heard any "official word" about the tilt? Are they keeping quiet for a reason? Or are they too focused on Trump et al to be paying attention to anything else. I just do not get why people are not out yelling and screaming about fracking in their states. To say that stuff is not responsible for earth quakes is just outrageous. All this greed will definitely get us and it won't be long. I'm glad I won't be here to see what happens as a result of all this but I too am so sorry for what our grandchildren are inheriting.

    1. Anything to get the last drop of oil out of the ground, no matter what the cost!

  7. Janet, that is an absolute horror story! I don't understand how BLM can take land from families who have held it for years, but I guess the country is full of other examples. I subscribe to a YouTube video produced by someone called "Dutchsince", who reports on quakes and volcanos and shows Google Earth maps that he zooms in on - you can actually see the fracking wells. OK stands out among all the states, although all states have them in the most unusual places - like I mentioned they are in the farm region of CA right in the middle of orchards (where I suppose they can't normally be noticed). You can't inject water loaded with chemicals into the earth (to break up the shale) and not make a difference. The land becomes like liquid sand for one thing. If earthquakes don't scare the hell out of people, I just don't know what will make them stop this practice.

  8. I am so glad to hear that you too are aware of Dutch. I have followed him for some years now. He is brilliant.

The problem with the BLM is in Texas and even the governor is trying to fight it. It has to do with how the Red River runs and flows somehow. They have been stealing Texas ranch land along the River for a while now. http://www.americasfreedomfighters.com/2014/04/11/red-river-rumble-blm-wants-to-seize-90000-acres-of-texas-ranchers-land/

We have to keep our immune systems up, especially if we are older. You might check out Liposomal C and also look up Dr. Yu niacin detox.

    1. My immune system has been great since I went totally off all meds and OTC's. Those things just mess with the immune system, covering up the symptoms/problem.

  9. If it makes you feel any better, my weed problem is worst than yours :(

  10. I told the park manager that I am going to have my sons completely redo the yard this summer, so I hope they leave me alone about it. Why do the weeds grow better than flowers, nice grass, etc.
