The Weather!

After a few nice days in the 60's it is turning cooler and windy this afternoon.  We are expecting a storm this evening and I hope the power doesn't go out, although I have a good supply of candles as well as an oid fashioned oil lamp.  The last time we were without power I lit several candles and was shocked to see how little light they give.  It probably wouldn't be as bad if I had good eyesight, but as it is I need a lot of bright light to see well.  I'm also frugal about conserving energy and I don't like to have many lights on, so I'm in between a rock and a hard place!

I ordered a harness for Rocky that seems flimsy but it works!  It is just a couple of straps put together in such a way that he isn't really restrained, but then he doesn't pull ahead too much or take advantage of the fact that there isn't a lot holding him back.  Also, the straps are nowhere near his neck, which I worry about when the leash is attached to his collar and he pulls.  I will get this all sorted out sooner or later.

My computer is really becoming terrible and needs work or  else replacing.  I just lost two paragraphs I wrote for this blog, so I'm going to quit for now and keep an eye on the storm clouds gathering.

Speaking of computers, I don't want  to spend the money on a new Mac; I thought of getting an iPad but it probably wouldn't work for me for full time use.  Any thoughts or coments on this subject would be appreciated.

  1. Hope your power holds out! Just before Christmas we lost power for 33 hours. Lucky though we burn wood for heat. We are probably getting our first snow this Sunday. Hope not!
I have a Asus laptop (windows 10), iPad Pro and iPhone7 plus. I like my iPad best. Most of my computer stuff is done on it. I have not blogged on it though but I am sure it can be done. Maybe you could buy one with the provision that you could take it back if you don’t like it. Costco comes to mind.
In any case I wish you good luck. 😁

  2. I have taken so many things back to Costco that I couldn't figure out how to use or to get asccustomed to, and would be embarassed to buy another big item unless I was sure it would work for me. I'm thinking of taking my computer to Best Buy and have the Geek Squad go over and fix the things I'm having trouble with on this computer.

It's been looking like rain all day long and hasn't started yet. I hope we don't lose any power, but except for the food in the refrigerator I can deal with just about anything else.

    1. Hope the Geek Squad where you are is better than the one I ran into in Phoenix. What a waste of money I didn't have to throw away.

Not much help in the realm of computers/electronics buying except to say I stay away from Apple like it's the plague. And when Microsoft comes out with something new, I wait until the product is several years old so they get the bugs worked out or move on to something better.

    2. I haven't heard anything negative about them - my biggest problem is getting there, having to leave the computer, and then managing to get back to pick it up.

  3. Considering your eye problems I don't think an iPad is a good way to go the screens aren't very large. I have had very good luck with Geek Squad so maybe it's certain stores just can't get good help. But it is worth a try before you spend big money on a new lap top or desk top.

I bought some really good LED lanterns and they sure give off lots of light. Some prices are really not that bad, I checked because I hate spending lots of money and these 2 that I bought at lowe's but I saw them at Walmart also

    1. I don't think I will get an iPad, and I don't want a new computer. The only answer is to try to get mine refurbished at Best Buy, and I hope they don't change everything I'm familiar with by installing the latest software.

  4. I use my iPad for everything. Haven’t had a working computer for a year.

    1. I think if I had gotten one a while back and learned to use it then, I wouldn't mind it. But from what I've seen they are totally different now than before.

  5. You are lucky to have a Gueek Squad in your city. I think I would try them first before buying a computer. Good luck with the new harness for Rocky.

    1. I hate the thought of having to buy a new computer - fokr one thing I'm familiar with what I have on mine and I know the latest models change everything so you can't recognize it at all.

  6. I think you would like an iPad. After I got my Smart Phone, I hardly use my computer. The computer is now too slow for me.

    1. I think there are some things I do on my computer that I couldn't do on an iPad. I have a Microsoft Suite for Apple, which includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and a few others I would like to try.
