Of course I have nothing to write about, so I'll just tell you things are about the same as the last time I posted. I hurt like hell! Tuesday will only be one week and I wish I had a little more patience.
I woke up at 5:30 this morning to take pain meds and then fell back to sleep until 10am. Not sure how anyone can sleep as many hours as I have lately, but I guess it's what I need.

Thanks for letting us know how you are! I think the more you sleep right now, the better. Sure do hope the pain lessens pretty soon. Like has been said, you are tough; when you are backpacking on the trails all of this will be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to sleep when in pain is a blessing. Sleep as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteMost doctors will tell you that if you need to sleep than do it. It is your body's way of helping itself heal.
ReplyDeleteIt took me nearly three months after the Hernia surgery before the pain stopped entirely. Even today nine months later if I move the wrong way I feel the discomfort but not the pain that I had before.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
All I can say is - the good part is that the surgery is over and you're a week into your recovery.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to write this before, but my ex-husband had the same surgery and he had a difficult recovery, too. Everyone reacts differently, though, and I was hoping you'd breeze through it. Maybe that's not possible with hernias, but honestly, you didn't have much choice. Now he's fully recovered and the surgery and painful recuperation is a distant memory. This will be the same for you, Gypsy.
Keep hanging in there. Sleep is good - you body will recover during your sleep, and you won't feel the pain while you're asleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep. "You are getting sleepy." :)
i agree with the others, 'a sleeping body is a healing body'. I also understand the 'impatience' thing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the body needs to do nothing but work on healing rather than getting up or anything else. But how long do they say you will hurt like this? A week seems a long time for so much pain. I'm amazed to read the comments about such a long recovery from a hernia. I have to wonder why. Maybe it has to do with where the hernia is. Thanks for letting us know how you are. I really hope the pain starts to go down soon. All you can do is rest.
ReplyDeleteSleep is a good thing. That's why they put people in induced comas so their bodies have a chance to heal. So sleep away.
ReplyDeleteSleep when you can, it'll help.
ReplyDeleteYou're alive and kicking, so that's the main thing. Sucks to be in pain. Hang in there.
Have to agree with the majority here that sleeping is your body's way of healing itself but that is easy for me to say since I am not feeling your pain.
ReplyDeleteHang in there and when the pain kicks in remember this too will pass and visualize yourself back-packing and camping.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Glad for the update! sleep... let your body do its thing ~ hiss on the hurting !
ReplyDeleteSending healing thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteSleep is the best healing medicine they say so sleep as much as you need too.
