More rain and wind!

I really can't complain as many areas in this part of the country are getting much worse.  The wind frightens me a little.  I think it would only take a very small tornado to pick my house up and carry it off to the land of Oz!  Rocky doesn't care for it either.

I recently read an article about how, under no circumstances, should you feed people food to a dog - not even a tiny little treat.  I don't know where this comes from, but I've had dogs all my life, and especially when my babies were small the dogs loved to sit next to them when they were eating, dutifully cleaning up any spills for me.  Dogs love that job, and they take it very seriously.

Since I don 't drop my food on the floor, Rocky still deserves a chance to get a few good bites.  I just made some toast smeared with butter and lots of apricot preserves, and I think he loves it almost as much as I do.   I only give him a small piece of the toast though.

I don't know how to plan my day.  If the rain keeps up we won't be going for many walks.  My kitchen definitely needs some work, so that may be what I will tackle.  Or not.

Here's to a happy Valentine's Day for all.

  1. Our dogs are part of our household and my wife even cooks for them. The ones that have passed on lived a long time, the last one was 19 and the one before that was about the same age. They were healthy and happy up until the end.

    1. Your wife cooks healthy and nutritious food for your pups, and they are so lucky. I think the article I read was saying no-no to a piece of cookie or cracker here and there, but who can resist those soulful doggie eyes looking up at you, pleading for a bite?

  2. When we got our latest Yorkie, the breeder told us to feed him dry food and nothing else. She said dogs don't mind having the same thing day after day.
I just wonder how SHE would know?? I mean, people food could be dried and packaged---like those MRE's? How would WE like to face every day eating that? Life sure wouldn't be much fun. Better a shorter life with some treats thrown in! We cook liver, and buy rotisserie chicken for our dogs. They still get dry food, but it is spiked with good stuff!! I vote for Rocky to get treats!

    1. Rocky eats a premium dry dog food but I give him treats as well. I keep a good selection of treats on hand, and sometimes give him a bit of what I am snacking on. Seems to be ok.

  3. I agree how would SHE know does she speak doggie language? I used to feed the only dog I ever had pizza, hamburgers, fries and so many no no's and glad I did because when he moved to Del Rio someone poisoned him and at least he enjoyed his short life.

    1. I try to feed him a good diet, plus a few treats now and then. He is happy enough but of course he will always sit next to the table when I'm eating in hopes I'll drop him a bite or two!

  4. The rain in CA. is bad, I sent my cousin a Text to see how they were doing and she said they are OK but areas around them are in bad shape. They had been in a terrible drought but now they seem to be making headway but to much to fast is not good either. We had our rain start around 5:50 but seems to have already stopped for now anyway.

    1. The rain has been pretty heavy in Sacramento, but it clears up for a little while now and then. CA ALWAYS talks about drought. I'm surprised they aren't already forecasting the drought for this summer. Of course, with everyone in the entire state taking a lot of the water we used to get, we have a bit less. I read one time that Sacramento is technically a desert, which is determined by the total amount of yearly rainfall. We are lucky to have the American River which brings snow melt from the mountains most of the year.
