Time Marches On ---

--- and I'm keeping up with it, if just barely.  I regret that I sold my mobile home.   At least I met people when I walked Rocky, and most were friendly so I had a lot more human contact.

Ever since I've moved away from the mobile home I keep watch online for what is on sale and details of the homes.  A few months ago there was a house for sale by owner with a relatively low asking price, that I had been following for several months.  After sitting on the market for a while, it was advertised by a real estate agent at a much higher asking price.  It sold in less than a week (for the higher price!).  I could have kicked myself for letting it go.  I could have paid cash for the house!  The monthly cost of site rentals has gone way up, but I still could have comfortably afforded it.  There's an old saying:  "He who hesitates, is lost!", and I sure lost out on a good thing.

  1. I'm sorry to hear that. It's amazing that a realtor can ask more money and people will buy the house.

    1. The only thing I can come up with is that realtors have so many more connections, plus advertising capabilities, that a private seller doesn't have access to.

  2. A house is a lot of work and the older we get the less we are capable of doing. Try finding a group you can be with a few times a week that would be good for you to be with others. Talk to your daughter about finding a group would help you out. All the best Gypsy!

    1. My daughter isn't going to do anything to help me move as I'm living in her house (and paying rent). It's a very nice idea - an "in-law suite", being a separate, self-contained, small apartment. If I ever remember to pick up a camera next time I'm shopping I will take some photos to post. I have everything I need to enjoy life - except for friends. There are other such houses throughout the neighborhood, but I have not once seen an older person coming or going out of one of them. No opportunities for socialization. You might tell me to find opportunities, but at my age I'm done with that type of activity. I've lived in many different places, and loved the last place I lived - should never have moved to tell the truth, but I let my daughter talk me into it. They were building a new house in a completely new neighborhood, and it has a self-contained suite for the "in-law", so it seemed to be ideal. I am used to living on my own, in the manner that I want to live, with no interference from anyone. I was a food to let anyone tell me what I should do, and it's going to be difficult, if not impossible, to do anything about it now.
