Yellow stains everywhere

I've been noticing them on everything in my kitchen - the fridge door handles, my coffee grinder, etc.  It dawned on me this morning where they came from.  Every morning first thing I take one probiotic and two tumeric capsules.  Then I heat the water for the glass I drink, and then make my coffee.  I think one of the tumeric capsules may have come loose and left the powder on all the capsules - I din't notice it at first, but evidently my hands are yellow from handling them.  I had to get my super duper cleaning spray (the one that doesn't smell so good) and it got most of the yellow stains, but there is still a residue left.  I must remember to wash my hands after taking the capsules and before touching anything else!

My bedroom curtains are washed and ready to take over to the laundry room to dry.  I may hang them out on the line, although line drying doesn't mean they will have that good fresh outdoors smell.  There is something in the air that overrides everything else - probably the same stuff that leaves chemtrails.

I looked under the bed when I moved it to get the curtains down, and can't believe the amount of dust that accummulates there.  I stored some of the extra packs of floor laminate there, and everything is covered with dust.  Well, now it isn't.  I have a really difficult time getting up off my knees, which is probably why I just ignore what's under the bed.  Even though I have a nice pad that I kneel on, getting up is definitely a problem.

In defense of my intense dislike for cleaning, I wrote to Jo's comment that as the oldest of 8 kids, I always had to look after them and my mother did the cleaning.  I never really learned how to do it systematically and properly, and at 75, my hope is gone that I will reform my ways.  I have no desire for wealth, but if I suddenly became wealthy the first thing I would do is to hire a cleaning service!  However, I would probably actually cry to pay for something to be done that I could do myself.  Go figure.  The second thing the wealthy gypsy would do is to gather up the grandchildren for a trip to Barnes & Noble!  We would buy loads of books and then eat desserts with abandon over at the Starbucks Cafe!  (Then I'd hand the kids back over to their parents with sugar overload, haha!)

  1. With all the turmeric stains, it is a good thing you like yellow! Glad to hear you were able to get them out -- that is almost impossible.

I bought a really nice old fashioned umbrella/circular clothesline, but can't use it because of the polluted air. The clothes stink if I dry them outside. I also purchased a Amish made clothes drying rack from Lehman's Hardware and have used it for years. It works just fine for the two of us and things dry really well in my spare bedroom.

Ah yes, under the bed. Are you sure you aren't describing my place. I have wood flooring and my Swiffer mop pulls out dust bunnies as big as chihuahuas. And like you say, they just come back.

    1. My coffee grinder wukk always have a yellowing tinge, I'm afraid.

I have often wished I could have a small drying line outside my house, but the Park Police would be on me like white on rice! A small one that can be set up indoors would be ideal.

One can almost always find dust under things like a bed, but it's small particles - not the big clumps I'm finding. I've never seen that kind of dust anywhere else I've lived, but then maybe I cleaned more frequently everywhere else I've lived. This stuff shows up overnight and attaches to lamp bases, electric cords, chair legs, and just about anything although it's favorite is out-of-the-way places.

    2. I always try to proofread what I write before hitting the "Publish" button, but I'm afraid I don't catch all the typos. It is mostly due to my eyesight, and I'm also noticing that many blogs are almost too difficult for me to read. I have reduced the font size on my own blog from Largest to Large, but if there are enough folks who prefer the larger font I'll go back to it. It's so disheartening - I get magazines and can only look at the pictures, and with many blogs I read it's the same way.

    3. I can enlarge greatly if needed - click the 3 line icon upper right and test it for yourself. Can you imagine what this air pollution is doing to everyone's lungs? Maybe that's why I gasp so much anymore. I see no chemtrails today. Wonderful! Are we being systematically eliminated; I'm concluding so. If I concentrate read hard, I can still smell that perfect smell of my clothes line- dried; esp. in the fresh mountain air. Too bad you left Asheville, but understandable. Don't work too hard; sounds like you are totally capable to do so though; good for you. What change do you notice taking turmeric?

    4. I don't want to be called a conspiracy theorist, but maybe I am. I think someone is definitely doing harmful things to the skies, the atmosphere, the earth, etc. We are like ants in the great scheme of things to whomever is running that show.

  2. Dust bunnies and dog hair - just my world. I think that's why our eyesight gets worse as we get older - so we don't see all the stuff that doesn't get cleaned like it used to.

    1. Sandie, I think you've hit the nail on the head about the eyesight. I guess I should be grateful I don't see all the dust. It's been a long time since I've had to contend with dog hair!

  3. I don't think I have a defense for hating cleaning although maybe it's because all through high school my father made me come downstairs at 9am, no matter what I'd done the Friday night before, and spend hours helping him clean the house. EVERYTHING had to be vacuumed every week. My brother of course never had to do any of it. Perhaps it's latent cleaning anger. HA!

    1. I definitely think our habits and attitudes are set in our childhoods, at least mine were. The thing I hate is that with all the effort I've made and cleaning I've done, my house still looks like a mess with clutter everywhere. No dust though!

  4. I never had the "dust bunny" problem so much until I moved into this house with wood flooring. I really have to stay on top of it and lately I've just been slow. Maybe your "dust" is coming from the air. If I go outside at night with a flashlight I can see very tiny little particles floating in the air. I don't think they are normal.

You do very well with your typing and I appreciate your vocabulary. I understand about the vision problems as this has been an issue for me since childhood.

Amazon has some great clothes drying racks which would work really well for just one person. Mine is a nice large wooden one that even accommodates sheets and pillow cases. I was disappointed my outdoor one didn't work -- thought it would work since we moved to the country, but the spraying is everywhere. The indoor racks have helped out as I prefer air dried clothes (and it's cheaper too).

I also have an air purifier which removes dust particles in the air and I diffuse eucalyptus essential oil into the air as well. It is getting ridiculous the things I do lately, but they help me get along.

    1. It makes sense that you can see every little particle of dust on wood floors, whereas they just blend into carpets. I washed curtains from two windows today and hung them on the line. They dried in no time, and I may try to do a couple more windows tomorrow, or not. I am dreading washing the windows but my Mom will turn over in her grave if I hang clean curtains on dirty windows!

I don't know which I want more - an air purifier or a water softener/purifier!

    2. Do an Amazon search for e cloth. They have microfiber cloths for cleaning windows that turn it into an easy chore. I also have the kitchen e cloths and it keeps the front of my stainless fridge spotless with no effort.

  5. The dust bunnies under the bed multiply like rabbits. . .

  6. I hate to think how bad it is under my bed. I have an upright vacuum and I have to add to the tubing hose to reach under there and I usually have the extra pieces in the shed. Its always something.
Love that you would take the kids to Barnes n Noble fill them up with sugar and take them home hahaha

    1. Grandmas can get by with mostly anything!

I wouldn't even look under my bed if the room was carpeted. The bed is on rollers so I can move it around and get just about everything except the center.

  7. I too have the dust bunnies under the bed problem. It seems that as soon as the A/C comes on in the spring, we get even more dust. A friend of mine had her ducts cleaned but the problem never really went away.

Due to my mother's allergies her doctor told her she can no longer dry her clothes outside on the clothesline. I bought her this plastic folding drying rack that is made to sit inside the tub (or any other place) and after I am done, I just fold it up and put away.

If I were to somehow win the lottery (don't know how since I do not buy lottery tickets) the first thing I would do, is hire a gardener...I HATE yard work!

Regarding the font on your blog, I also have vision issues. If I am on my old laptop I just use Control and the + sign to make it larger. On this new computer since it has touch I use my fingers to enlarge it.

    1. I dislike yard work about as much as I dislike house work! I think I will buy a small drying rack for some items, but I like my towels dried in the sun. I usually put clothes into the dryer for 10 minutes, and then hang them damp on the line to finish drying. That gets the wrinkles out, but for most thinks like socks, towels, sheets, etc., I don't care about wrinkles.
