First One!

I finally got to pick my first squash of the season.  It's a yellow one and is the perfect size!  It looks like the next two will be zucchini.

I have a busy day ahead of me so I might not get a chance to add more to this post.  If I do, I will write a 2nd one for the day.  Meanwhile, have a great day!

  3. Isn't it beautiful? I have it sitting on the table where I can enjoy looking at it. I think I'll make a vegetable stir fry for dinner this evening

    1. It was perfect! I had thawed a pork chop which I cut up into small pieces, chopped some other fresh veggies I had in the fridge, and stir fried it up, then added the squash last so it wouldn't cook up completely. It couldn't have turned out better, and I ate the whole thing! I sprinkled some seasoned salt over everything and the flavors were so good!

  5. Fine eating for you. Yellow and zucchini w/sweet onion was part of my feast last evening. Also coming from daughter's lush garden tender white corn and 1/2 runner green beans. Summer's bounty; yet it couldn't be w/o the sun and that perfect fertilizer, chicken manure. Unbelievable 'magic' for plants! Gotta have a few chickens for that though. That was the way of my grandmother's existence. Long gone - now it is Monsanto! Bum dealing there! Dessert? That fabulous Zucchini Bread I've mentioned before. I waddled away from the table satisfied as a perfectly "stuffed turkey". lol

    1. My son-in-law was telling me a couple of days ago that keeping chickens is allowed in the area where I live. I don't know how much trouble they are - and how the dog would deal with a chicken playmate!

    1. I was a bit surprised at how well as bit of this and a bit of that ends up blending so well. I love those kinds of meals.

  7. Your garden is really starting to pay off. My folks had a huge garden but that gardening gene sure didn't get passed down to me. Squash in a stir fry sounds wonderful.
