A Blast From The Past!

While I was drinking my coffee this morning I decided to see what was on YouTube.  I found an old skit from the Carol Burnett show, and those of you who were fans of that show will understand that I just couldn't watch one.  I've spent half the morning laughing at Eunice and Mama, but especially at Tim Conway and Harvey Korman.  Tim Conway has to be the funniest man who ever lived!   Also very noticeable is the fact that the audience laughter is real.

The last time I visited my daughter, the kids were watching a supposed-comedy show, and since it was a kids' show you would think the laughter would be from an audience of kids.   It was a canned laugh track and you could tell it was adults doing the laughing - not kids.  They played that laugh track after every single line in the skit, and it was exactly the same track with no variation in the laughs.

Laughing is a good way to start the day, and I hope to at least keep smiling for the rest of it.

    1. Thank you. The shows are available on YouTube - mostly short skits.

    1. There are quite a few oldies on YouTube, but so far I'm laughing too hard at Tim Conway to look at anything else. That man was brilliant.

  3. I think I have watched all of those shows at least twice;-) thank goodness those and some of the other oldies are still available because the new TV fare is not easy to watch. That's when my TV gets turned off :-)

    1. Do the youtube thing, and as I said above, there are a lot of them in short excerpts.

  4. Nice to have you back on your blog. I, too, watched the YouTube videos of Harvey and Tim. Did you watch Carol when she was homeless and on a park bench with Tim? Oh my Lord, that one is funny.

  5. I agree with you about those skits being so great years ago and Tim Conway is simply one of the best comedians ever. I absolutely hate laugh tracks. One of my favorite half hour comedies was Canada's 'Corner Gas' which had no laugh track at all, never. There's a very popular so-called comedy dominating TV called, 'The Big Bang Theory' which I absolutely hate. I tried to watch it a few years ago to see what all the hype was about but after 10 minutes I couldn't turn the TV off fast enough. I have never heard a 'laugh track' more abused and misused than in that show. I don't think there is probably a solid 30 second segment where the laugh track is not cranked up full. Somebody walks in a room...hahaha. Somebody turns around and looks at somebody....hahaha Just about anytime any character opens his mouth.....hahaha!! If that's comedy I guess I should have been a funeral director........

    1. I am with you on this one. Fortunately I got rid of TV service over a year ago, and I miss it now and then but not much. I will have to look and see if they have any of Corner Gas on Youtube now. I think I watched an episode or two in the past, but I never was much of a TV watcher.

  7. Great show! My mother used to laugh so much at the skits, her next door neighbour could hear her through the walls. We cancelled our tv satellite service today. I am enjoying following a few people who travel full time in their RV's. &!I might get 3 channels with the
antenna, that will be enough. Glad to see you here. You are right under the Bayfield Bunch
in my "bookmarks" so after reading Al, I check your blog. Pleasant surprise tonight.
