A good day

This is some of the damage sustained during the storm yesterday afternoon. I was very fortunate nothing hit the truck, nor did the house seem to be damaged at all even though the tree branch fell right next to it. (Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

This is the 2006 Toyota Highlander I bought this morning, and I know I am going to love it! The dealer is Wappingers Falls Toyota on Rt. 9 in Wappingers Falls, NY, and the salesman is M.J. Herring. The entire experience was very positive and so unlike the usual dealings with car dealerships. I was treated with courtesy and respect by everyone I came in contact with, and at no time did I feel pressured. If I am ever in the market for another car, new or used, I will go to this dealership, and I recommend it without hesitation.

As for the Highlander, it is so easy to maneuver and while I miss the truck I am happy to be in the Toyota - I will be more than happy at the gas pump! There is adequate cargo space for Lady and all my camping gear, and I'm even thinking about a small trailer in the future. No hurry on that however.

Some days go very well and then there are those that don't go so well - they make you appreciate the good days. This was one of the very good days.

  1. Like the new wheels, congratulations! The only time I miss our truck is when we have something big or long we need to pick up.

  2. I think you'll be more comfortable with that ride! Hopefully it can tow a teardrop or Casitta, if you're so inclined in the future. :)

  4. It's a beautiful car, I'm sure you're going to love it! I like the size, not too big, easy to drive, but you can carry almost anything in it. Congrats!

Here's to better day ahead! :)

  7. Congrats on the car purchase. I miss my truck, don't have anything that my telescope will fit into.

BTW, God gives us the bad days so we more appreciate the good ones.

  8. I've never posted before but have been reading your blog for a long time. I just have to comment and say that I have a 2002 Highlander with 165000 miles on it. I would not trade it for anything else - it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned! I hope you will like yours as well as I like mine. The only thing I would change if I could is the color.. mine is white..

  10. That ought to make things a little easier to get around in. Congratulations. We like our Toyota, and they keep their resale value fairly well too.

  11. Great news. The Toyota looks great and I know that Lady will be really happy in there. Remember, she's the one who's important!! LOL. You are so going to enjoy it. And I am so glad you didn't sustain any damage in that storm. Hate the weather this year.

  13. Nice ride, Gypsy. Hope you have many great trips in it. It will be so much easier to park and easier to see all around you. Glad it all worked out for you and that it was a great experience.

  14. You're right, you will have plenty of room to haul anything and maybe even the teardrop that you like. It is similar to my Sedona and I've been hauling everything to my 5 th wheel. I am so glad that things are coming together for you.

  15. I think you made a wise choice there Gypsy. Kind of the best of both worlds in regards to roominess & fuel economy. Much easier to drive & park as well. Throw a little tent trailer on the back & you are all set. It's been kind of a long grind from where you were with the truck & fiver to where you are now but you finally made it. Now, how nice is that eh:))

  17. Could the Highlander pull one of those little Casita trailers? They're supposed to be lightweight. I would think that would be better than sleeping in a tent.
