My appointment was at 10 a.m. but an emergency situation put someone else in front of me, so I got into the dentist's chair at 11:00. I try to be patient when there is any kind of emergency because it could be me or a loved one that needs immediate attention. When I was finally in the chair the question came up about the implant of a stent in one of my arteries. I remember reading that dental work can bring on infection so they dosed me with antibiotics, even though I've been on them for several days now, and had me wait an hour. At 12 Noon I was ready to go. I don't think I could have found a surgeon I liked better than this one - besides being good looking with a drop-dead gorgeous smile, he was gentle and kind.
I decided to try nitrous oxide for the first time in my life because I knew I couldn't relax on my own. They started out with "one drink" but upped it to "two drinks". I did feel pretty relaxed but nothing like I thought it would be. I also had novocaine or whatever they use now, so I didn't feel a thing during the actual extraction, which was over with before I even knew it. Now I have an appointment with the dentist on the other side of the practice for an exam to determine what else I need. I know there are other issues because I've been avoiding this for too long.
I'm starving but limited to soft foods today - I found the kids' stash of snack cups so I will sample the applesauce first.
There are so many things I need to do but for today I think I will take it easy, really easy! Thanks for all the good wishes sent my way. I may be in some pain in an hour or so, but for now I feel fine.

We are all relieved that that's out of the way. I just hate the dentist, much like you seem to. I keep telling myself, it isn't thaaat bad, but it doesn't help much!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are glad that is over with. Hopefully the next visit will not bring too many surprises. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteSo how was the nitrous oxide? I, too, have avoided that. You must feel relieved that it's over with. I'll be making a dentsit appointment here in IN soon. I hate the dentist along with doctors!
ReplyDeleteI really need to have more work done but since I'm not in pain I'm pretty sure I'll put it off because I just hate going to the dentist. But I'm sure glad you've got that much out of the way.
ReplyDeleteBoy, am I the only one who likes going to the dentist! LOL Could be he has dreamy brown eyes! Oh, and does everything in his power not to cause pain. But those brown eyes. . .
ReplyDeleteGlad it went well! I have come to accept that on medical stuff, nothing improves by waiting.
ReplyDeleteGlad it went well. Hope your next visit goes just as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought you had a pretty good attitude towards your dental procedure. Much better than I would have had that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteJust the word 'Dentist' sends shudders through me. Many bad experiences years ago but now I am totally dentist free forever. Yaaaay:))
Glad that is over. Hope you don't have too many problems getting better. When are you seeing your heart Doctor?
ReplyDeletejust got thru getting all my dental work caught up with, starting with an extraction too. Never any pain, and that dentist kept me laughing so much, had to call a time out one time to laugh. They told me,,'that's a first". lol
