Mostly people just glue their eyes on the screen, although now that I think of it, I see a lot of folks talking away with the phone to their ear. I have my jitterbug phone which is usually turned on, but I use it so rarely and mostly when my son in NY calls me. My kids can send me a text which shows up on my computer, and I can reply to them. We can also group text but my phone is never used for it.Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18052445200220681513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785311472371282139.post-37291596406237704302017-05-25T12:41:38.499-04:002017-05-25T12:41:38.499-04:00There is the addiction factor, but I have also rea...There is the addiction factor, but I have also read medical/science articles which say these devices cause brain and other types of cancer.

I have a trac phone for emergencies (turned off) which we take with us on trips.Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11206501173181278380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785311472371282139.post-42023828504589471552017-05-24T20:16:59.094-04:002017-05-24T20:16:59.094-04:00I loved that quote, and it contains words of wisdo...I loved that quote, and it contains words of wisdom. I have been reading the book but there is a very long chapter on addiction which I'm almost afraid to find out is similar to what people with tech devices are in. I'm really trying to keep down my computer time, when I realize I don't need to check my email every 15 minutes. Good thing I got off Facebook years ago because it is really hard to go 15 minutes without checking to see who "likes" what.Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18052445200220681513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785311472371282139.post-76964186184198816312017-05-24T19:51:23.624-04:002017-05-24T19:51:23.624-04:00Looked it up on Amazon (haha) and read inside. &q...Looked it up on Amazon (haha) and read inside. But he refused to let his kids have one. Sure enough, he died in 2011. I've seen people close to me who are so addicted themselves they allow their children to have their own devices, probably so they won't bother the parent. Multiply that times the millions of addicted adults with children, and you can see the problem. I'm still on the 1st chapter and I would hope there are solutions and suggestions provided before the final pages.

In raising my own kids I tried to provide them with some things I knew the other children had, but not anything I didn't approve of myself. They might have been upset about it, but being a parent should mean setting limits and believing that there should be limits. If Steve Jobs can do it, why not any other parent?

Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18052445200220681513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-785311472371282139.post-23907236320686165862017-05-23T17:47:48.250-04:002017-05-23T17:47:48.250-04:00Couldn't agree more but I'd sure like for ...Couldn't agree more but I'd sure like for them to advise parents how they do it and send their kids to any school, public or private, with all the other kids having email and facebook and instagram or whatever all these other things they use are called. At this point in technology they almost can't have friends or a social life without it. Remember how kids ostracize and make fun of anyone who is different. Some specifics from these folks would be very helpful to support their claims. Without, it's a bit hard to believe. The children might thank you some day but it might well ruin your relationship with them for a very long time.Sherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00328866430156879312noreply@blogger.com
