Could things get worse?

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, there is news of a virus that has now killed one person in China.  It's one that sounds familiar, is called the hantavirus, and is spread by rodents.

It is cool today but the wind has died down some.  When I took Rocky for a quick walk I was stunned by the beauty of the sky.  It is a gorgeous shade of blue lately, I suppose because there is less air pollution?  Right now the clouds are gathering and we will probably get rain.  I should go out and pull some more weeds in my garden before it begins - I can only do a little bit at a time which is kind of frustrating.  Also, I cannot find the spade/shovel anywhere and I'm having to use a small hand trowel.

I was hoping to get some topsoil delivered but it is almost impossible to do it by ordering over the phone.  I can order it, but someone has to stop in to pay for it, and it won't do to give a credit card number over the phone.

Is it me, or have any others of you experienced difficulties at every turn lately?  And where is it all going to end.

I'll admit that I'm getting discouraged.  I'm missing human contact and personal conversations.  I have trouble hearing on a cell phone so I don't really like to use it unless it is absolutely necessary.  Maybe when all this passes I should get my hearing tested.  I would have done it a couple of years ago if insurance paid even a small cost of a test and hearing aid.  Well, this isn't the time to try to do anything about it - maybe when the virus abates and we can get back to normal.

When is poetic justice going to visit the officials who tell us we should get back to work and save the stock market?  And of all things, I read this morning that someone (a mayor or a governor in the Southwest) has urged seniors to get out and fill the necessary jobs in the country, because they are going to die anyway.  (I'm paraphrasing, but I think this is just about what he said.)

I hope you are all doing better at keeping a positive attitude than I am at this point.  I might just turn off all the news & noise, and clean my house!

  1. Did you notice that's not what the Doctors or Scientists are saying. Just the idiots watching the Stock Market.
Being able to hear things clearly makes things less frustrating.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. It's also what some of the politicians are saying.

  3. I think you are referring to something the AG of TX said about seniors. I hate living in Texas and always being lumped with idiots. I think Trump has yet to realize that neither he, nor any of his cronies are in charge right now, or in the near future. Covid19 is. When somebody close to them gets hit, maybe they will wake up. Late already, though.

    1. Sometimes my mind wanders towards wondering when djt or one of his kids will get the virus, but then I have to shake my head and get rid of thoughts like that. Karma, you know. But why are so many good and innocent people being taken, while idiots like him and his family keep on running like the energizer bunny!

  4. It was Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick...how he went from Sportcaster in a Houston television station (I disliked him even back then)...to politician is a mystery to me. He is an idiot and he even left the Fox News guy in disbelief.

  5. P.S. Have you tried Skype or Facetiming with your family? If you use your computer you can put headphones on and hear clearly that is what I do so mom can talk with my cousin (I am old fashion so I use Skype).

    1. I don't have headphones. One of these days, if I survive the current times, I will get my hearing tested. I keep in touch with family via email mostly and if I talk to anyone I prefer to do it face to face.

One of the problems I have with learning something new such as Skype or Facetime, is that as soon as I learn how to do it they will change/upgrade it and then for me it will be like starting all over again. There are so many developers who want to stay employed, so their success is based on changing everything and changing it often. Many times the changes are not even helpful, so I'm just not buying any of it.

  6. Skype is a great idea for "getting together" with people. But earphones would probably help. Order them on line and have them delivered but I have found that Amazon is trying to force everyone into paying for Prime by making the delivery of any other orders take 2 and 3 weeks.

    1. I have Prime, but I don't think I would like earphones or headphones at all. I don't even remember signing up for Prime but I obviously did, and I love it. Because I don't drive I order online and until just lately my orders are taking a day or two longer - this is because of the virus making people afraid to go out shopping in the stores.

  7. As I get older, I find that is not loudness that I need, but understanding what I am hearing. Sounds are more muffled, and extraneous background noise interferes. When I use ear buds, some those competing noises are eliminated, plus I can concentrate on what I want to hear. I find this especially true of of TV audio, because they don't want you to see the mics in the picture. You can find inexpensive ear buds almost anywhere: Walgreens, Walmart, Best Buy. Try a pair before you invest in expensive headphones. Check you TV for a headphone jack first.
